Notes:

  • Instant Pot recipes require liquid to come to pressure. For most chicken recipes I use chicken broth or Better than Bouillon chicken base and water.
  • All recipes are cooked on high pressure with a 10 minute natural pressure release unless otherwise noted (don’t use a quick release or chicken will get tough).
  • If cooking time doesn’t differentiate between fresh and frozen chicken then add 2 minutes to the cooking time when using frozen chicken.
  • Salt and pepper to taste and add additional spices, if desired.

Are there any adjustments when using frozen chicken? I too keep Costco breasts in my freezer. They are a frozen brick. Do I just dump in? Same amount of time?

If it’s a frozen brick you’ll need more time. You may want to cook for a few minutes, release pressure, break apart the chicken and then cook again with a natural pressure release.

Yes you could do that. ½ cup rice and ¾ cup water in pot in pot dish. Lower into Instant Pot with 1 cup in the bottom of the liner. Pressure cook for 10 minutes.

Hi Karen, new comer. I’ve enjoyed your recipes, tips and ideas very much in the short time I’ve been a subscriber.
I love my instant pot and use it for most everything. I also use it to cook my meat till tender before I add it to other dishes when I’m cooking with other methods.
My question is about burning. I frequently get the burning message and my IP automatically switches to warming mode so my food doesn’t get the full recipe cooking time.
What can I do to prevent this?

Hi Karen, love your site. I have a pressure-cooker but just bought a Ninja Foodi Pressure, Slow cooker, Air crisper. Having a hard time find recipes. I like to cook fairly simple. Your chicken recipes look easy and good. I am going to try and cook them in my Foodi. I have read if you can cook a recipe in an instant pot you can cook it in a Foodi. I was just wondering if you might be familiar with the Foodi and if you had any tips for me using your recipes in the Foodi. I will let you know how it goes.

My comment is not meant as a negative comment; it is meant to find out what resources I am missing. I received my IP as a Christmas present. I have cooked 2 meals. One turned out good and one did not. I have been collecting accessories and look forward to using the egg bites mold. My comment is that is seems most of the recipes are red stewps (soups or stews) or white steps. Or shredded meats. This is boring to me. I am still trying to figure out how to use my IP 6qt size for my benefit. The 2 meals I made were at my son’s house and fed 5 people. Normally it is just me.

search this site or others on the net. There are recipes for various roast (pork and beef) as well as all other meats. Not all are about soups and stews and shredded meats.

That was my first, initial thought too. However, I’ve discovered so much more! Here recipes are simply divine, btw. I just printed off the Chicken Bacon Avocado Salad. So simple and I’m looking foward to making it this Sunday. I’ve made quite a few of her recipes and my husband is a huge fan of the IP now. Don’t despair – explore her site.

There is Six Sisters Stuff that also has great tips and simple recipes to make. Sorry, Karen for mentioned a fellow IP poster.

When I was new to IP I reviewed lots of Youtube.com videos to better acquaint myself to using the IP and the ‘how-to’s with accessories. I recommend you try there.

Hi Sharee, because it’s a moist heat form of cooking there will definitely be trends with pressure cooked foods. But I have over 500 IP recipes on my site and try to have a variety of foods. I hope you can find some recipes you love: https://www.365daysofcrockpot.com/recipes/?fwp_method=instant-pot

Sharee, I am also single. I have enjoyed the beef stroganoff, Swedish meatball, Mongolian meatballs, I love my 6 qt instant pot. As a single person, I usually have left overs…hence the seal a meal! Seal a meal really keeps food fresher and tasty. I could name soooo many recipes I’ve tried. Hard boiled eggs are amazing…baked potatoes in a few minutes..crack chicken..Karen has lots of great recipes and ideas…there are even vegan recipes for the instant pot….I google instant pot chicken recipes and get lots of sites and ideas. I LOVE MY INSTANT POT!!!
