9 years ago I wrote the message “I have decided to try to use my crockpot for 365 days in a row! That is the basis of this blog. I will blog about my efforts and post recipes and pictures. I hope that you will try the recipes and comment about your own successes and failures. I typically haven’t used the crockpot all that much since I’ve had one; however, that is about to change!”
Little did I know that 9 years later I would still be posting recipes…of course it’s not everyday anymore but still! 9 years of recipes. That is a lot!

An unanticipated benefit
So many positive things have happened to me since I started this journey. One of my very favorite unanticipated effects is my kids have grown up with me cooking so many different foods that they are really not picky at all.
My son, Skyler, in 2009 when I started my project.
They are used to seeing different foods on their plate every night that they don’t ever say, “Ew, what’s that?” They are just like, “oh, dinner, that’s cool.” When I started sharing recipes with you my son was 6 months ond. I can’t believe that he is in the 4th grade…9 1/2 years old. He can’t ever remember me not taking pictures of food. My daughter was 3 when I started and is now in junior high. Life flies, doesn’t it?
My Family’s Favorite Recipes
It’s hard to even sift through 9 years of recipes! Today I’ll be sharing with you some of the most popular and favorite recipes through the years.
When I asked my family what their favorite recipes were they said…
Husband: Slow Cooker Creamy Chicken (there is also an Instant Pot version)
- Runner up was Cashew Chicken
One of my husband’s favorite dishes–cashew chicken.
Daughter: Slow Cooker Parmesan Sausage and Kale Soup (here is the Instant Pot version)
- Runner up was Turkey Minestrone Soup (slow cooker or Instant Pot)
- And her favorite sweet treat is Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
Parmesan, Sausage and Kale Soup…my daughter’s favorite recipe that I make.
Son: My son’s favorite food is literally the last thing that I’ve made. Never have I met a kid that loves food as much as him. Some of his favorites are Cheeseburger Soup (slow cooker or Instant Pot) and Hawaiian Haystacks (slow cooker or Instant Pot).

Me: I go through phases. Right now I’m seriously loving this Chicken Spaghetti. I also love Chicken Gyros, Turkey Lentil Chili and my basic seasoned and shredded chicken.

I’ll always be associated with the crockpot/slow cooker because that is how I got my start. However, I love the different functions of the Instant Pot and the true “one pot” meals that can come from it. I will continue to post electric pressure cooker recipes and, when it makes sense to do so, their slow cooker versions as well. There are definitely some things that just can’t be done in the slow cooker and when that is the case there will just be an Instant Pot version.

I think the 8 qt duo Instant Pot would be a great choice for me; while I do live alone, I also like to cook larger quantities so I can have leftovers (which is why I have a larger slow cooker, too!). That makes it much easier to have a healthy lunch at work, or a healthy dinner when I get home late and I’m too tired to cook. I love my Crock-Pots. I started to give them to my daughters as gift. They looked at me like I was weird. Then it hit them one day. A Crock-Pot is a life saver. I would love to win Kitchen Aid slow cooker. I was introduced to one of your delicious recipes over the Christmas holiday. It was the chicken tortellini spinach soup. My son made it and my 3 grandchildren, ages 7 twin grandsons and 8 granddaughter loved it and even asked for seconds. I also thought it was delicious. I have been a crock pot user for many years, and recently purchased an electric pressure cooker.what a bonus to all that you give a choice of cooking methods. I would love the mini, as I also have a triple base slow cooker….each 2 1/2 qts each. Great for meals for two. Keep up the great work, and also thank you for responding to email questions.

The 3 quart instant pot would allow me to make small batches of homemade yogurt, and rice which i have never been good at making. The time saver aspect for me is great as i am away from home 15 hours a day working and traveling, so meals have to be quick and delicious. i have been trying your recipes and everyone has been delicious.
I got the 6 quart for Christmas (Happy Birthday, Jesus!) and am still trying to get past that darn learning curve – however, with your tips, tricks and awesome recipes, I am slowly making my way around the bend. I made Reagan’s meatloaf and mashed potatoes last night and it was awesome. Thanks, Reagan! I would love, love, love a 3 quart because its only me and my hubby and the big one is, well, big. HA. Ahhhh! Would love the 8 qt IP. I love my 6qt soooo much! Have convinced more people than I can say every time I go to the store & convince people looking at slow cookers to buy the IP pressure cooker. My enthusiasm convinces them! My sis-in -law & I share recipes every week! Love converting recipes of my heritage (Croatian / Italian) yum yum! Love the Lasagna soup with campanelli pasta . I am new to 365 Days of Crockpot and have tried several recipes and ha ve loved them all. Today seeing that we, here in Michigan, received 6 inches of snow i figured I’d try The Broccoli Cheese Soup and let it cook while I shoveled the snow. Perfect timing, I just walked in the door and my insta pot just turned off. OH MY GOSH! ! ! This Broccoli Cheese Soup Recipe is the best I’ve ever had….It was so good that I called two of the older ladies (89 and 92 yrs) on my street and took them both a huge bowl……My biggest food Critics and they both loved it too.

I have the Instant pot IP-LUX60 V3, but I wish I would have gotten the bigger 8 qt. one, If I win it, I would give my sister my 6 qt, know that she really can’t afford one working and supporting her grandson going to school, because of the death of her daughter. She is such a good person, but in need of help with everything that she does for him and her bills! I try to help her as much as I can, but I do have my own life too! I do as much as I can! She would really lov it knowing how much I talk about mine and the good reciepes I get from your website. Love it! Couldn’t do without it with working and trying to fix a quick dinner! Hello Karen, I am a newbie to your recipes, I have only been getting them for a few weeks. I made the bbq meatloaf with mashed potatoes and we loved it! I have made it twice and the honey garlic chicken is good also. The videos with your daughter making the dishes has helped me so much! It helped show me what to do. Thank you for a chance to have an insta pot. I would choose the 6 quart for my family. I have never used one or even seen one beginning used. I do however love my crockpot. I do freezer meals and then use my crockpot each day. I also do no knead bread every night. Both of these help me so much. And now, even at my advanced age, I remain very interested in food and believe that I have an open mind about new ways to cook. WOW congratulations on 9 years what a great accomplishment. I have been seeing a lot of recipes that use instant pots and would love to have a 6 quart one for my husband and I to make great meals following your recipes. I have been making some soups that are great on a cold day and an instant pot would be very quick and easy to try all your soup recipes and your other great recipes.
I don’t have an instapot tho been wanting one for over a year now. I’d be blessed by any. I have never been to your site, and today found maybe the recipe for Cashew Chicken that I can only order in Missouri restaurants where I experienced it. If it is in-fact even close… I’ve already won. I’d be beyond happy with the 6 or 8…8 only because of our food ministry.

I got my electric pressure cooker for Christmas. Hubby bought me a Chef’s Kitchen 6 qt.

I would love to have the 8 quart duo as I occasionally make and create soups for my theology class. We meet once a week where someone brings soup for 10 very hungry people, another brings salad, and yet another bread and butter. There are five of us in the class who love to cook and it is a challenge as two of our classmates are vegetarians and four of us have food allergies; we have brought soups and stews that have been a huge hit.

I love this blog and the e-mailed updates. Always great to have recipes to make when I go to bed nd take to work when I wake up. I also have my fingers crossed on this giveaway. My foster dads mother (foster grandmother?) gave me a multi cooker for Christmas but gave me several instant pot cookbooks, apparently not realizing the Instant Pot’s pressure cooker feature makes the recipes need modification for a slow cooker / multi-cooker. lol. I would love the 6 quart duo. I have 2 crockpots that we use on a regular basis throughout the winter months and your recipes have come in super handy!!! They’re quick, easy and sooooo tasty!!!

I think I would like the 6 qt Instant Pot. I almost bought one at Christmas but thought I don’t have room for this and my crock pot. I couldn’t justify getting rid of my crock that works great and was too cheap to spend the money. If I won it, bye bye crock pot! LOL
I have the 8 qt Instant Pot and love it!! I would like another 8 qt so that I can make bigger amounts when all my boys and their families are at my house for football Sunday! Thank you so much for all the wonderful recipes you post! I use them a lot!

I have been wanting to try the Instant Pot!! I have an old-fashioned pressure cooker for the stove-top that I inherited from my grandma, but I’ve never tried anything in it! I love using my crock pot, so I want to try the Instant Pot too!! I would definitely need the 6-quart or the 8-quart for my family!!

That’s the 3rd store I have been to that has been sold out of the Instant Pot. By the time I decided to get one, they are all gone! Figures! I’m going to try your cashew chicken. I don’t have an Instant Pot–yet–but am thinking about getting one and getting rid of one of my FIVE slow-cookers. I cook for extended family weekly and sometimes have three slow cookers going at once.
