Instant Pot 3-Ingredient Peach Cobbler

One of my most popular recipes this time of year is my slow cooker 3-ingredient peach cobbler. It’s so easy to make and it truly is such a yummy treat. Peaches are in season and we had a big bowl full that we got at a produce stand. I wanted to see if I could make peach cobbler in the Instant Pot. It worked out really well. I have to say that the fresh peaches are the star of this dish! They were amazing. If needs be you can use frozen peaches but I do not suggest using canned peaches or canned peach pie filling. I just don’t think it would taste as good and I feel like they would get too soggy.

My son is here demonstrating this recipe:

What Pressure Cooker Did You Use?

For Instant Pot 3-Ingredient Peach Cobbler I used my 6 quart Instant Pot Duo 60 7 in 1 for this recipe. I also own the 6 quart Instant Pot IP-LUX60 V3 Programmable Electric Pressure Cooker. They are both great pressure cookers! The first one I mentioned has a yogurt making function but other than that they are fairly similar. The price difference between the two is about $20.

Description

Fresh peaches, a cake mix and butter are all you need for this simple but totally delicious recipe. Make it quickly in your electric pressure cooker so you can enjoy is faster!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Half of one 15.25 oz box white cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 6–8 medium peaches, peeled and sliced

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced peaches into an oven safe dish/bowl that will fit inside your Instant Pot. I used a 1.6 liter corningware dish. Sprinkle the cake mix over the top of the peaches. Then dump the butter over the top of the cake mix.
  2. Place a piece of foil over the top of the bowl (this will prevent drippage on top of your cobbler). Place the bowl on top of the trivet that came with your Instant Pot. Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of the Instant Pot. Slowly lower the bowl and trivet into the bottom of the Instant Pot.
  3. Cover the Instant Pot and make sure the valve is set to “sealing.” Set the timer on manual for 15 minutes (it should be on high pressure). Once the timer beeps let the pressure come down naturally for 10 minutes. Then release any extra pressure by switching the valve to “venting.”
  4. Remove the lid. Using hot pads, carefully lift the trivet and bowl out of the Instant Pot. If you’d like to brown the top of the cobbler you can do this by removing the foil and sticking the bowl under the broiler of your oven for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Serve the peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

I used my 6 quart Instant Pot. If fresh peaches aren’t in season you can use frozen peaches instead.

This is an old “basic recipe” for a dutch oven. The crust just turns into mush this way and baking after might help a little. Don’t waste your time and do it in a dutch oven and do it this way (decent) or do it with your own flour mix etc.

In the recipe it says put cake on top of peaches and then pour butter on top of cake (no mixing). In the video the little man cut the butter into the cake prior to putting it on the peaches. Which way should I do it?
    Thanks

You’d get the burn signal. You need liquid in the pot for it to come to pressure.

I haven’t made this in my instant pot but I thought I would give my input on using a spice cake mix. We love our peach cobbler with spice cake when we make it in our Dutch oven when we are camping.

So, I’m brand new to the whole instant pot thing and according to the directions it says that I have to use at least two cups of water every time I use it. It is a 6-quart pot, can I get away with one cup of water or am I setting myself up for failure?

I have tried using frozen peaches, purred, in making home made sorbets or ice cream. I find they are too hard and not ripe enough… Is that because they are meant to be cooked ? If I use canned , drained peaches, approx. how many ups or ozs. I usually have 28 oz cans on hand. Thank you in advance. If I make this, it will be the first time I buy a cake mix,but it sounds so quick and easy. could I use an ordinary peach cobbler recipe in my Instant Pot ?

I would use at least 1 28 ounce can…maybe more. It’s up to you and how many peaches you like. I am not sure about the ordinary recipe. You might need to experiment with time. Let me know!

Good time for warm comforting food. I will try out the peach cobbler and the three ingredient rump roast . YUM.

Hi Margaret, the cooking times I give will work for your slow cooker. Each slow cooker is a bit different so you’ll have to see how the recipes work and you’ll get a feel if you need to subtract time or increase time. Generally all slow cookers will fall in range that I give though. Good luck!

We tried this (with strawberries) and lemon cake mix. It was pretty tasty but I used half of a box of 18oz and found it was really not enough- to the point that the edges barely had any topping. I would do the full box next time, not sure how much I would adjust the butter yet though. Thank you for the scrumptious recipe!
