Instant Pot Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

Cooking chicken wings in the Instant Pot is super simple. And you know what’s fun about it? You can cook a bunch of frozen wings at the same time and then after they’re cooked you can season and sauce them differently. For example, I made these instant pot garlic parmesan chicken wings and at the same time I made buffalo wings.

All you do is put a cup of liquid (water or broth) in the bottom of your Instant Pot. Then you place your trivet* or steamer basket* in the bottom of the pot. Add in as many wings as you’d like. I used a bag of frozen wings that was 3 pounds. Just make sure not to fill the wings above the max fill line. Then you’ll cook for 4 or 5 minutes. The pot will take a little while to come to pressure, especially since the chicken is frozen. After they’re done cooking you’ll lay the wings on a sheet pan and baste with a mixture of melted butter, garlic powder, parmesan cheese, ranch dressing mix and parsley. You’ll stick them under the broiler of your oven for 3-5 minutes, until the cheese starts to get golden brown. And then you’ll bite into the most tender, flavorful wings ever.

What Pressure Cooker Did You Use?

For these Instant Pot garlic parmesan chicken wings I used my 6 quart Instant Pot Duo 60 7 in 1*. I also own the 6 quart Instant Pot IP-LUX60 V3 Programmable Electric Pressure Cooker.* They are both great pressure cookers! But I recommend the Duo. It has a yogurt making function but other than that they are fairly similar. The price difference between the two is about $20.

Description

Frozen wings are tossed into your electric pressure cooker and cooked for just 4 minutes. Then a mixture of garlic powder, parmesan cheese and ranch dressing mix coat the wings while they broil and crisp up in the oven. These wings have unbelievable flavor and are super easy to make for a party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (3 pound) bag of frozen chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 Tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp ranch dressing seasoning mix
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Pour one cup or water or chicken broth in the bottom of your Instant Pot. Place trivet or steamer basket in the bottom of the pot.
  2. Place as many chicken wings you’d like (and will fit) in your Instant Pot. Don’t go over the max fill line.
  3. Cover the pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to “sealing.” Set the manual button (or pressure cook button) to 4 minutes for tender wings or 5 minutes for meat falling off the bones wings. When the timer beeps let the pressure release naturally for 5-10 minutes. Then release the rest of the pressure by moving the valve to “venting.”
  4. In a bowl stir together the melted butter, parsley, garlic powder, ranch and parmesan cheese.
  5. Remove the lid. Turn your oven to the broil setting. Use tongs to place the chicken wings on a sheet pan. I lined my pan with a silicone mat* for easy cleaning. Spoon the parmesan spread over the top of the wings.
  6. Place the wings in the oven under the broiler for 4-5 minutes. Check the wings and when the parmesan starts to get a little brown, the wings are done. Remove the wings from the oven and use tongs to place wings on a platter. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

I used my 6 quart Instant Pot Duo 60 7 in 1

I have a 3quart. Time the same and how many wings. Like the idea of dipping them in biter.

Sounds amazing! I have an 8qt and making 5lbs of thawed wings, what would the measurements be for that many?

Just double everything…that’s what I would do. And keep the cooking time the same.

Thank you! I also have a 3qt mini so I scaled down the ingredients and am using 1lb of thawed wings, so tasty!

How much should I cook them for in the Instant Pot if they’re not frozen? This recipe looks great!

I did a slight change to this recipe in that I dipped the wings in the butter and tossed them in the dry ingredients to evenly coat them. Under the broiler till they started to brown and turned them over.
