3 Instant Pot Accessories I Can’t Live Without

There are endless Instant Pot accessories that you can buy and they are definitely fun! However if you could only buy 3, these are the accessories that I recommend the most.

Instant Pot Accessories (video)

If you’re just getting started with your Instant Pot you definitely can cook in it withOUT any accessories. However as you get cooking more you’ll probably come across some recipes and methods that need specific tools to create the recipe properly. Here are my top three must have Instant Pot accessories and some recipes that use them.

#1: Silicone Sling

OXO Good Grips Pressure Cooker Bakeware Sling*: This sling serves as a sling and a trivet. It comes in handy for dropping foods into the Instant Pot and lifting them out, especially with pot-in-pot cooking.

I used the sling to lift out baked potatoes and meatloaf bites. You can see what that looks like at at minute 4:48 of this video:

I also use it as a trivet to steam foods on top of. For example, I used it to cook my fish for Instant Pot fish tacos. By far, this is the Instant Pot accessory that I use the most!

More recipes I use with my sling:

Instant Pot Open Face Pizza Sandwich

Instant Pot Chocolate Chip Muffin Bites

Instant Pot Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Instant Pot Baked Potatoes

#2: A pan for pot-in-pot cooking

I suggest buying a pan that you can use for pot-in-pot cooking. The Instant Pot pot-in-pot (PIP) cooking method is cooking food in a separate dish thatโ€™s placed on a trivet inside your Instant Pot liner. Steam is created from water below the trivet and builds pressure to cook the food. You’ll want an oven safe dish that has a diameter of 7 inches (for the 6 quart pot) that you can easily lift the pan in and out.

I own a few pans that work for this purpose. The one I use the most is the 7 inch by 3 inch Fat Daddio’s Round Cake Pan*.

Some recipes I use with my Fat Daddios Pan:

Instant Pot Ranch Pork Chops And Mashed Potatoes

Instant Pot Cheeseburger Breakfast Casserole

Instant Pot Polish Meatballs With Sour Cream Mushroom Sauce

#3: Silicone Steamer Basket

A steamer basket comes in handy for mashed potatoes, hard boiled eggs and steaming veggies. I like this silicone steamer basket* because it’s flexible, made of silicone and BPA free, dishwasher safe, fits perfectly in my 6 quart Instant Pot and it’s large (when I make lots of potatoes they all fit inside the basket without spilling over the sides).

The handles are very handy to lift foods in and out of the Instant Pot and it can also be used as a colander.

Check out how I make ZERO minute vegetables in my steamer basket in the Instant Pot!

Recipes for the steamer basket:

Instant Pot Breakfast Potatoes

Instant Pot Ranch Mashed Potatoes

Instant Pot Homestyle Vegetables

Instant Pot Zero Minute Vegetables

Nice to have accessories

Besides these three there are plenty of other Instant Pot accessories that you could purchase. I recommend the following two accessories as nice to have but not necessary:

Half size bundt* cake pan for German chocolate bundt cake, monkey bread and apple cake.

Egg Bites Molds* for egg bites, meatloaf bites, churro bites and raspberry cheesecake bites.

Can you purchase just an extra inner pot, so you can cook several different items with the same outer pressure cooker?

Hi Karen, I live in Canada so I need to go to my Amazon.ca. Every time I click on yours it takes me to Amazon.com. I don’t want to pay in American money and the delivery to have it come across boarder is more. What do you suggest? I would like you to get something from my order if that is possible. Thanks for all your great recipes!

My fat daddies pan has a removable bottom which so far is fine for meatloaf, but will it leak at all if I do cheesecake or cakes for that matter?

I bet cheesecake would be just fine in it. A thick battered cake will probably also be fine.

I like all of the accessories you mentioned. My best one for me is a binder clip to hold the pot in place when sauteing something. It is genius. Really like the silicone sling. I use it a lot.

They make something to keep the insert from moving around? I had no idea! It drives me crazy when Iโ€™m sautรฉing something or trying to scoop food out and the insert keeps moving. I thought certainly someone has figured out how to solve that problem! Itโ€™s called a binder clip?

It’s just a little clip that you’d find in your office supplies!

Wouldn’t a wooden clothes pin do the same thing?? I apologize for the misspellings in prior post. Cat and tablet in the lap is not a good mix

In case anyone is looking to buy a new – or their first – Instant Pot, the Duo Evo Plus inner pot has handles that fit into the outer pot handles and stay cool to the touch, is flat on the bottom, and doesnโ€™t move when sautรฉing.

And not that Iโ€™ve done so, but it can be used like a regular pot on the stove since itโ€™s flat – like to re-heat foods.

Note that an air fryer lid does not fit onto this Instant Pot and at least the last time I looked, thereโ€™s no teflon inner pot.

Is it a 6 quart pot? Then probably! I bet it is super similar in size.
