Slow Cooker Honey Balsamic Meatballs

These meatballs could not be easier. With only 4 main ingredients and a couple minutes you can get these going in your crockpot. The star is the sweet and tangy sauce. It is so good! I had frozen meatballs on hand so that’s what I used but if you’d rather make homemade meatballs you can totally do that. These are a perfect appetizer but you can also serve them as a dinner along with mashed potatoes and salad. I usually love the grape jelly meatballs best but I think these might take their place as number one in my book!

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Ketchup–I like Heinz brand
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Honey
  • Water
  • Frozen meatballs–use your favorite homestyle, Italian-style, beef or turkey meatballs. You can also make homemade meatballs. I like this recipe.

Steps

In a small bowl whisk together the ketchup, vinegar, honey and water.

Add meatballs to the slow cooker.

Pour the sauce over the top.

Cover and cook on high for 90 minutes. Turn to warm and serve meatballs when ready.

Notes/Tips

  • I like to serve these meatballs as an appetizer. Keep the slow cooker on warm and set out toothpicks. These would be great for a holiday party, football watching or potluck. You can also serve these as a dinner. Serve with potatoes and a green veggie on the side.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for 4 days. You can freeze the cooked meatballs with the sauce in a freezer-safe container for up to about 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
  • Other recipes you can make with balsamic vinegar* are Instant Pot Chicken Margherita Pasta and Instant Pot Flank Steak.
  • Tools:
    • I used my 4 quart slow cooker* and I cut the recipe in half.
