Sinful Potatoes

As the recipe title implies, these potatoes are so tempting! Mmmm! With a creamy dreamy sauce with sour cream, cream cheese and a couple of odd ingredients (Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce) you’re going to love the texture and the flavor profile of these potatoes. I took my favorite dip (Mississippi sin dip) and made it into a potato dish.

These potatoes are a great side dish to many meals! Think about serving them with ham, chicken or steak. Plus a side of broccoli or a green salad and dinner rolls. Everyone will be licking their plates.

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Red potatoes–or yukon gold potatoes
  • Cream cheese
  • Sour cream–or plain yogurt
  • Hot sauce–I used Frank’s red hot sauce
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic powder–or granulated garlic
  • Onion powder
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper–I like coarse black pepper
  • Dried dill
  • Cheddar cheese–or pepper jack, monterey jack, colby jack

Steps

Pour 1 ½ cups water into bottom of Instant Pot. Add potatoes into a steamer basket*. Place the cream cheese on top of the potatoes. Drop the steamer basket into the Instant Pot.

Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 4 minutes. When time is up move valve to venting and remove the lid.

Move steamer basket out of the pot. Discard the water.

Scoop the cream cheese into the Instant Pot liner. Whisk in the sour cream, hot sauce, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and dill. Then fold the potatoes into the sauce.

Fold in the cheese.

Serve and enjoy!

Notes/Tips

  • Serve as a side dish to chicken, pork chops, steak, roast beef etc.
  • Try adding in some cubes of ham and some steamed broccoli to make this more of a meal (reduce salt a bit since ham is quite salty).
  • This recipe can be gluten free if you use gluten-free worcestershire sauce.
  • I used my 6 quart Instant Pot* with my Avokado silicone steamer basket*.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. These potatoes don’t freeze well.
  • You can easily double or halve this recipe. Keep the amount of water beneath the steamer basket the same.
  • Other recipes you can make with cream cheese are Now or Later Casserole and My Man’s Casserole.

This sounds wonderful!!! I must try it. And to Sharon who requested that Karen tell what size cooker to use: Karen almost always tells what size she made a particular recipe in. Maybe in her “NOTES” or down at the bottom. But she always tells us. You just have to sometimes real ALL the commentary and there it is. Hope this helps.

Could you please add a small addition to your recipe descriptions- Just add ” 3 quart , or 6 quart, or 8 quart ” instant pot. That way we can decide whether or not to reduce or add to your ingredients.

    THANK YOU
