Peaked and Tweaked Casserole–a tater tot casserole with savory ground beef, green beans, and a creamy soup-sour cream mix, all topped with crispy golden tots and melted cheddar cheese.

Peaked and Tweaked Casserole
You gotta make this easy one pan tater tot casserole. It’s the ultimate comfort food that’s made all in one pan with minimal prep and yummy flavor. I’ve adapted this recipe from Peaked and Tweaked Tater Tot Casserole on food.com. The author states, “This is definitely a kid (and husband) pleaser in my household!! I’ve taken a classic casserole and added a few extras to it.”
Ingredients/Substitution Ideas
- Lean ground beef–or ground turkey
- Onion
- Garlic
- Kosher salt
- Black pepper
- Cream of celery, cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup
- Frozen green beans–or canned, fresh
- Sour cream
- Tater tots
- Cheddar cheese–or colby jack
Steps
Heat oven 425° F. Heat a large oven safe pan over medium high heat. Add in the beef and break it up. Add in the onions. Brown for 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic, salt, pepper and toss for another minute.
Turn heat to low. Stir in the soup, green beans and sour cream. Smooth out.

Add tots evenly on the top.

Bake for 25 minutes, or until tots are crispy and golden brown. Sprinkle the cheese on top and bake for another 3 minutes.

Serve and enjoy!

Notes/Tips
- Serve with green salad or steamed broccoli.
- If you don’t have an oven safe skillet you can transfer the mixture to a baking dish instead of baking in the pan.
- Spread the tater tots in a single layer for maximum crispiness.
- Customize it with extras like chopped mushrooms, diced red bell pepper, or a dash of hot sauce in the meat mixture.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. This dinner is best the first day because the tots will get soggy after that. The meat portion stays good for several days.
