Slow Cooker Smoked Sausage Country Boil
I’ve been seeing all sorts of recipes for shrimp boil but unfortunately Greg is allergic to shrimp. Sad day for all of us in the Petersen household! I decided to make my own version with smoked sausage and other fun added ingredients. I was so please with how it turned out. Very flavorful and I love how it’s a complete one pot meal.
My Smith’s had a sale on smoked sausage so I stocked up. I used a garlic chicken sausage that was made by Hillshire Farm and it was so tasty. You can also use kielbasa or andouille sausage (or whatever you want).
Greg, Reagan, Reagan’s friend and I ate this up in no time! Skyler was sad when he came home and it was all gone. It was a hit. I loved drizzling the remaining juices over the top of my potatoes. It had so much flavor. So don’t forget to do that!

What Slow Cooker Did You Use?
To make Slow Cooker Smoked Sausage Country Boil I used my Ninja Auto-iQ 6 Quart Slow Cooker.* My favorite feature of this slow cooker is that it has a stove top function. This is perfect for sauteing or browning before you slow cook. This slow cooker has four manual cooking functions: slow cook, stove top sear/Saute, steam, and bake.

hi. I have made the instant pot version of this minus the green beans and I love it. just curious why you change the seasoning in the crock pot version. why not still just use old bay?
Karen says
yeah, you can use whatever seasoning you like! Old Bay is a good one!
Martin Greenan says
Can you use frozen or canned corn to substitute for the ears of corn without affecting the flavor much.
Karen says
oh yeah, you could totally do that
Roger Lagotte says
I want to make this recipe adding shrimp in the slow cooker as recommended. How can I reduce salt MG’s and still maintain flavor?
Karen says
Could you use a salt substitute?
Kelly says
Can you use this in a crock pot
Karen says
yes you can
Debba says
This was delicious! I followed the recipe exactly, except I excluded the salt, when I made the space mix. I didn’t miss it at all. And everything was perfectly cooked in the one minute pressure time. I’m really just dumbfounded at how very tasty it was. Will make again! Think you for a great recipe.
Karen says
You’re welcome! Thanks so much for the 5 stars.

I used to make smoked sausage a lot because it’s economical. my husband no longer likes it because his teeth are getting bad he says it’s hard to chew. My question is does cooking sausage in the Crock-Pot make it softer and easier to eat?
Karen says
I wouldn’t say softer. It remains pretty much the same. Perhaps smaller bites?
Annie says
Hi – I peel the casing off before cooking. I think it is more tender and easier to chew that way 🙂
Laura says
How about adding shrimp at end? Do you think that would be ok?
Karen says
For sure! Add it in about 30 minutes before you want to eat.
Pat says
My wife is doing your recipe in a slow cooker tonight for dinner tomorrow night. I’m looking forward to it.
Karen says
Hope you all like it!
Teri says
The fresh green beans will be done and the potatoes not over cooked? I really want to make this. Thank you.
Karen says
It works great!
Debbie says
Teri, I made the Slow Cooker Homestyle Chicken And Vegetables & I thought the same thing, But after 4 hours on low, all was well, the potatoes needed a little more, so after another hour, it was perfect ! 5 hours on low, perfect. I plan on making this recipe this weekend & I have full confidence it will be amazing !
Christi says
I can’t get fresh green bean, could I substitute with frozen?
Karen says
Yes that will work just fine.
Claire Kirby says
What if we can’t find any celery seed?
Karen says
You can just leave it out…should be fine!
Collette Watson says
