Instant Pot Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole

We scraped the pan clean on this one! The ravioli are coated in cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, parmesan cheese and then topped with a meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. Seriously yummy! Reminds me of lasagna…but I actually like it better. You can make this casserole in your Instant Pot (pot-in-pot method), slow cooker or the oven. Each way works great!

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Italian sausage–I used mild, ground Italian sausage
  • Spaghetti sauce–I used a jar of Ragu
  • Cottage cheese–or ricotta cheese
  • Cream cheese–or Neufchatel cheese
  • Sour cream–or plain yogurt
  • Dried parsley–or fresh chopped parsley
  • Garlic powder
  • Parmesan cheese–shredded or grated
  • Frozen cheese ravioli–or frozen tortellini
  • Mozzarella cheese

Steps

  • Meat sauce: Stir together the sausage and spaghetti sauce.
  • Ravioli and creamy sauce: Stir together the cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, parsley, garlic powder, parmesan cheese until creamy and smooth. Fold in the ravioli.
  • Layer ingredients: Layer the ravioli, meat sauce and mozzarella.
  • Cook: Pressure cook, slow cook or bake.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes/Tips

  • I used my 6 quart Instant Pot*. You can also make this in your 8 quart Instant Pot.
  • You can easily halve this recipe. Halve all the ingredients and keep the cooking time the same. (Keep the same amount of water below the trivet for the Instant Pot recipe.)
  • If you’re making the full recipe in the Instant Pot you’ll need a deep pot-in-pot dish. I like to use a 3 quart Instant Pot liner* inside of a 6 quart Instant Pot liner. If you halve the recipe you can use a 7×3 inch Fat Daddios pan*.

Description

With ravioli, four kinds of cheese and Italian sausage this casserole tastes like a million bucks! Make it in your Instant Pot, slow cooker or oven.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage, browned and drained of excess grease
  • 1 (28 oz) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 1 (25 oz) package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

Instant Pot Instructions:

  1. In a bowl stir together the sausage and spaghetti sauce.
  2. In a separate bowl stir together the cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, parsley, garlic powder, parmesan cheese until creamy and smooth. Fold in the ravioli.
  3. In a deep pot in pot dish add the ravioli, sprinkle half of cheese over the ravioli. Pour meat sauce over the top and then sprinkle with the rest of the mozzarella cheese.
  4. Pour 1 ½ cups water into bottom of Instant Pot. Cover the pot-in-pot dish with foil. Place it on a trivet/sling. Lower the dish into the Instant Pot. Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 30 minutes. When time is up move valve to venting. Remove the lid.
  5. Serve and enjoy!

  4. Cover slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
  5. Serve and enjoy!

Oven Instructions:

I only have tortellini & it’s refrigerated, not frozen. Will that work? If so, how much cook time? Tnx

It was so yummy! I would’ve thought cooking less time using refrigerated instead of frozen too, so I cooked it for 20 min. Not quite done. So, just put the foil back on & cooked it another 10 min. PERFECT! So, your cook time of 30 min works for either refrigerated tortellini or frozen ravioli. Taste was spot on, as per your usual. Thanks!!!
