Instant Pot Million Dollar Lazy Lasagna
This is one of those recipes that everyone loves! All members of my family individually complimented me and expressed to me how much they enjoyed dinner. That means this is a repeater dinner for sure!
I like this recipe because it comes together so quickly and it only has a 1 minute pressure cooking time. It’s like all the benefits of lasagna without all the work. Besides your Instant Pot you don’t need any special equipment to make this recipe.
Ingredients for lazy lasagna
- 1 pound ground Italian sausage—I used mild
- 1 cup beef or chicken broth–or 1 cup water with 1 teaspoon of Better Than Bouillon
- 1 (9 oz) package frozen spinach–or you can use coarsely chopped fresh spinach
- 1 (25 oz) bag frozen ravioli–look next to the frozen breads at the grocery store. You can use cheese or meat ravioli. You don’t need to thaw the ravioli. Just throw it in frozen.
- 1 (24 oz) jar pasta sauce–use whatever you have on hand and what kind you enjoy best
- 1/2 cup Ricotta–or cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese–you can use fresh or powdered
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese–I like to grate off the block rather than buying pre-grated cheese
- Fresh basil, for topping–you can also use lightly dried basil

Instructions
- Brown the sausage: Turn Instant Pot to sauté setting. When display says HOT add in the ground sausage and break it up. Brown for about 5 minutes. Drain off excess grease.
- Deglaze: Pour in the broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot.
- Layer ingredients: Add in the spinach. Add in the ravioli. Dump in the pasta sauce. Don’t stir.
- Pressure cook: Cover the Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 1 minute. When time is up let pot sit for 5 minutes and then move valve to venting. Remove the lid.
- Add dairy: Stir in the ricotta, parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.
- Serve: Scoop onto plates and top with a basil. Serve and enjoy!
Notes/Tips
- I used my 6 quart Instant Pot* but you can also make this in a 3 or 8 quart pot.
- You can double this recipe in an 8 quart pot. You can halve this recipe also. Just adjust the ingredients accordingly and keep the same cooking time.
- Pair this lazy lasagna with a green salad and breadsticks or French bread.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- I love using a hamburger chopper tool* to break up ground meat.
- Can I make this in the slow cooker? Yes you can! Brown the sausage on the stove and then add it into the crockpot. Add in the ravioli, sauce and spinach (no broth needed). Cover and slow cook for 3-4 hours on low. Stir in the ricotta, parmesan and mozzarella. Scoop onto plates and top with fresh basil.

ahhh you’re so welcome!
Made this tonight. I didn’t know what to expect but I was wrong. It was so good, I’ve put it in the definitely make again list. That’s what my husband said and not much gets that approval. I didn’t have any sausage, and it still was wonderful. Thanks Karen!
So glad to hear you and your husband enjoyed it Carol!
If using fresh spinach, should I add more liquid as the frozen spinach has more liquid per weight?
I would keep the same amount of liquid!
The recipe looks yummy but can I substitute plain boxed pasta for the frozen ravioli? If yes, how much and pressure/release time?
Thanks
Yes you could use boxed pasta but you will need to increase the amount of broth. 2 cups of broth per 8 ounces of pasta. And I would say 5 minutes for the cooking time, depending on what kind of pasta you use.
Can this be made in the mini instant pot?
yes it can!
Looks yummy, Karen. Can I use refrigerator rav/tort a d fresh spinach? Time differance? Maybe 0 minutes and stir spinach in with the cheese?
Thanks for your reply.
I might use the same time but I am not 100% sure. I have actually not tried refrigerator ravioli in the IP
Yum! Do you think tortellini would work? Would the pressure time stay the same?
Yes frozen tortellini would be great and I would use the same time.
Just reading this recipe tells me how much I am going to love this!! Every ingredient is a favorite of mine, so what could go wrong….. I can’t wait to make this for dinner tonight!!
