French Onion Beef Sliders
This is a fun dinner! Something different. It’s easy but delicious. The sliders are mini little sandwiches that you just want to keep eating because they are so good! The Hawaiian rolls are a little sweet and paired with the roast beef, cheese and caramelized onions you can’t go wrong. Each person will want to eat at least 2 or 3 of these babies, if not more. You may want to double or triple the recipe!
Ingredients/Substitution Ideas
- Butter
- Sweet onion–such as Vidalia
- Kosher salt
- Baking soda
- Worcestershire sauce
- King’s Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls–or another brand of Hawaiian rolls
- Deli roast beef
- Mozzarella cheese–you can also use another type of cheese like gruyere or provolone
- Garlic powder
Steps
- Turn Instant Pot to sauté setting. When display says HOT add in 1 Tbsp of butter and let it melt. Add in the onions, salt and baking soda. Toss until onions start to yellow and release a little moisture (only a couple minutes).
- Add in the Worcestershire and water. Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 3 minutes. When time is up move valve to venting and remove lid.
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet. Cut the entire pack of rolls in half horizontally, keeping each half intact and connected.
- Place the bottom half of the rolls on a baking sheet. Top with the roast beef (1 slice per roll).
- Spread the onions in an even layer on top.
- Place a slice of cheese on each roll.
- Place the top layer of rolls over the cheese. Melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Brush the top of the rolls with the melted butter. Sprinkle with the garlic powder.
- Cover the baking sheet with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Uncover and bake for 5 more minutes to brown tops of rolls.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes/Tips
- Use a long serrated bread knife* to slice the rolls in half.
- You might wonder how the pot comes to pressure with a small amount of liquid. This is because the onions put off a lot of moisture which will bring the pot to pressure.
- Try using any other deli meat you like for example you can use turkey, pastrami or ham.
- These sandwiches are great served with soup or salad.
- I used my 6 quart Instant Pot* but you can also use a 3 quart pot.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

This is excellent and easy . I omitted the butter used butter cooking spray and used reduced fat shredded fiesta blend cheese to lighten the recipe up a bit. You could make it with turkey or ham and change up the cheese.
