Dixieland Skillet–an easy skillet shrimp dish loaded with colorful peppers, mushrooms, and green onions simmered in a buttery, garlicky sauce.

Dixieland Skillet
This shrimp skillet was so good! I love shrimp and don’t eat it enough since Greg is allergic 🙁 The original recipe I adapted this from actually uses chicken instead of shrimp so if you’re also allergic you can still enjoy this dish. This dish comes together quickly but it tastes as good as a restaurant! You can serve alongside some cornbread, rice, pasta or mashed potatoes or just straight out of the pan. It’s colorful, flavorful, and easy enough for a weeknight. Enjoy!

Serve with corn muffins or over rice

Notes/Tips
- Serve with cornbread, corn muffins, or rice.
- You can this with cubed chicken instead of shrimp. Use 20 oz of cubed chicken breast. Raw or cooked both work.
- Add Cajun or Creole seasoning for a southern twist.
- Stir in a splash of cream for a richer sauce.
- Toss in spinach, zucchini, or asparagus for extra veggies.
- Can I use gluten-free flour or cornstarch instead of regular flour? Yes. If you’re using gluten-free flour, just substitute it 1:1 for the regular flour and cook it the same way. If you’re using cornstarch, mix about 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water first, then stir it into the skillet at the end to thicken.
- You can make this recipe gluten free by using gluten free flour or cornstarch instead of flour.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Other recipes you can make with green onions are Instant Pot Orange Chicken and Slow Cooker Turkey Chili.
