Cracked Out Hissy Fit–a cheesy appetizer dip made with bacon, ranch seasoning, sour cream and melty cheese that’s ready in minutes.

Cracked Out Hissy Fit
If you’re looking for an appetizer that people can’t stop eating, this dip is it. I’ve adapted the recipe from Cracked Out Hissy Fit Dip on Plain Chicken. The author says, “The original Hissy Fit Dip got its name because you would most definitely throw a hissy fit if you missed out on the dip! The same goes for this Cracked Out version. You don’t want to miss out on this one!! You might want to double the recipe depending on your crowd size. Crack Dip recipes NEVER last long!!!” I laughed at that because I don’t remember hearing the phrase hissy fit since childhood. This dip really is addicting. I had to stop myself from eating too much of it! It comes together in just a few minutes with a handful of ingredients and delivers big flavor with very little effort. The combination of smoky bacon, tangy sour cream, savory ranch seasoning and melted cheese creates an irresistible dip!
Ingredients/Substitution Ideas
- Bacon crumbles–or cooked and crumbled sausage
- Sour cream–or plain Greek yogurt
- Velveeta cheese–or American cheese
- Shredded cheddar cheese–or Monterey Jack cheese
- Dry ranch dressing mix–I use the Hidden Valley brand
- Worcestershire sauce–or soy sauce
- Green onions–or chives
Steps
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add in the bacon crumbles, sour cream, Velveeta, cheddar, ranch dressing mix and Worcestershire sauce.

Stir and heat though until cheeses are melted.

Take off the heat add in green onions. Serve warm with tortilla chips.

Notes/Tips
- Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, pretzels or raw veggies.
- This dip is best served warm while the cheese is melted and creamy. You can keep it in the oven on warm until ready to eat or you can keep it in a slow cooker on the warm setting.
- Try stirring in a handful of diced tomatoes just before serving for freshness and color.
- I used my 6 quart Instant Pot*. You can also make this in a 3 or 8 quart pot.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freezing is not recommended since sour cream-based dips can separate and become grainy when thawed.
