Pizza Biscuit Casserole

Step Back Casserole

“Step back!” This is what I kept having to tell my family as their greedy fingers tried to pick out the cheesy biscuit pieces on top of this casserole. Lol! Sometimes it’s rough having to take pictures of food before you get to eat it.

This is a fun meal made with ground beef, red sauce, a can of crescent rolls and cheese. It’s a meal that can be customized to your liking with additional ingredients. Try adding in other pizza ingredients like pepperoni, ham cubes, sliced olives, green peppers, mushrooms, sauteed onions, etc. You could also throw in half a pound of Italian sausage instead of all beef for extra flavor. Make sure to use a marinara sauce you enjoy since that is the base of the dish basically.

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Lean ground beef–or lean ground turkey, ground italian sausage
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper
  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Marinara sauce–or pizza sauce
  • Pillsbury Grands! Crescents
  • Mozzarella
  • Sharp cheddar

Steps

Turn Instant Pot to saute setting. When display says HOT add in the beef and brown until cooked through. Drain off excess grease, if needed.

Stir in the salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and marinara sauce.

Simmer for 5 minutes on saute (less) setting.

Open the package of crescent rolls and slice into 8 round slices. Then cut those 8 slices in half (so you’ll have 16 half moon slices of rolls).

Place the dough slices evenly over the meat sauce.

Cover Instant Pot with air fryer lid. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Then use a fork to turn dough pieces over. Bake for 10 more minutes at 350. Test dough for doneness.

Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for 2 more minutes.

Serve and enjoy.

Notes/Tips

  • Serve with a green salad and olive garden italian salad dressing.
  • Try adding in different pizza toppings like mushrooms, green peppers, pepperoni, etc.
  • I used my Duo Crisp 6 quart Instant Pot*. You can also make this in the oven if you don’t have a Duo Crisp.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
