Skyler’s Spectacular Supper is a beef and cabbage dinner with lots of flavor. It’s an easy meal that only takes 2 minutes of pressure cooking time. You can also cook this cabbage dinner in the slow cooker.

Skyler’s Spectacular Supper
My son, Skyler, loves cabbage! He loves it raw and he loves it cooked. He sometimes eats it like an apple. It makes the rest of us laugh that a 14-year-old boy loves cabbage that much. This recipe is in honor of him. It uses a whole head of cabbage (it shrinks down a TON). With the ground beef and smoked sausage there is plenty of meaty flavor to go with the cabbage. It’s an almost stew-like consistency and I served it in bowls with a spoon. This is an easy one pot meal that I think you’ll really love.
Ingredients/Substitution Ideas
- Lean ground beef–or ground turkey
- Beef smoked sausage–or kielbasa
- Onion
- Seasoned salt–I used Lawry’s brand
- Garlic cloves–I used fresh and minced them in a garlic press*
- Beef broth–or water and Better than Bouillon Beef Base
- Cabbage–I like green cabbage
- Smoked paprika
- Italian seasoning
- Diced tomatoes–or fire roasted diced tomatoes
Steps
Turn Instant Pot to saute setting. When display says hot add in the beef and break it up. Add in the onions and sausage. Brown for about 5 minutes. Drain off excess grease. Stir in ½ tsp of seasoned salt and garlic.

Pour in the beef broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot. Add in the cabbage, paprika, Italian seasoning, remaining ½ tsp of seasoned salt and tomatoes.

Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 2 minutes. When time is up let the pot sit for 10 minutes and then move valve to venting. Remove the lid.

Stir and scoop into bowls and serve.

Notes/Tips
- Serve with garlic bread or another type bread you love. Lately I’ve been making this recipe every other week and I love it.
- This recipe is gluten-free and dairy-free.
- I used my 6 quart Instant Pot*. The pot is really quite full as you start to pressure cook. You can also make this in an 8 quart pot. Cut the recipe in half for a 3 quart pot.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Other recipes you can make with seasoned salt are Instant Pot Cajun Sausage, Potatoes And Green Beans and Instant Pot Kitchen Sink Casserole.
