Instant Pot Bacon Ranch Chicken
This recipe is so easy and so tasty! I love it! These are the types of recipes that got me into cooking in my crockpot and Instant Pot in the first place. Dump and go and minimal effort. Woo hoo! A win!
- I like to use Hidden Valley dry ranch dressing mix. I buy it in a big container at Costco. Other recipes you can use it in are chicken bacon ranch pasta, ranch chicken taco rice and mashed ranch cauliflower.
- I love using Olive Garden Parmesan Ranch Dressing. It tastes so good! Use your favorite ranch dressing.
- I used frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts straight from the freezer. You can also use boneless, skinless chicken thighs if you prefer. A combination of the two would be amazing!
- This can be a low carb/keto recipe. Serve the chicken plain or rolled up in lettuce wraps.
- I served the leftovers with Franks Hot Sauce stirred into the chicken mixture…it made it into buffalo chicken and it was soooo good!
- I used my 6 quart Instant Pot Duo 60 7 in 1*. You can also make this in a 3 or 8 quart pot.

The easiest and yummiest chicken! With only 6 ingredients this is a perfect weeknight dinner. Serve plain, in wraps or on top of buns.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 pounds boneless chicken breasts and thighs
- 3 Tbsp dry ranch dressing mix
- 1 cup ranch salad dressing
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 5 pieces of crispy, cooked bacon
Instructions
Instant Pot Instructions:
- Pour broth into bottom of Instant Pot. Place the chicken into the pot. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix on top of the chicken.

Slow Cooker Instructions:
- Pour broth into bottom of slow cooker. Place the chicken into the pot. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix on top of the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
- Remove the chicken and place it in a bowl. Shred the chicken. Stir in the ranch dressing and coat the chicken well. Stir in the cheese. Fold in the bacon.
- Serve the chicken plain, in wraps or on buns.
Notes
Another variation is stirring in a quarter cup of Frank’s Hot Sauce. It gives the chicken a buffalo chicken flare. So good!
I like Olive Garden Parmesan Ranch Dressing.

Is this recipe for instant pot using frozen or thawed chicken?
You can do either. If you use frozen chicken I would use a 15 minute pressure cooking time.
Perhaps I made an error, however, there was at least a half cup of lovely chicken juice at the bottom of the instant pot after we removed the chicken. Rather than let that go to waste, and especially because I’m a big believer in JUICINESS, we added it back to the completed mixture before serving. AMAZING!

Oh good idea! Thanks for the tip!
We love your recipes! First-time rice came out perfect. Could the recipes please give cooking times for bone-in chicken parts? We much prefer purchasing that way.
I would use a 15 minute pressure cook time for bone-in
Thanks for telling me when it is a recipe not in the cookbook. Saves me from saving something I already have. Love this recipe.
