Christmas Morning Wife Saver
Merry Christmas! This overnight breakfast casserole made with eggs, Canadian bacon and cheddar is the perfect thing to make for your holiday breakfasts or brunches. It was giving me eggs benedict vibes but way easier and just as yummy. I only made a small 8×8 inch dish for our family but when serving a crowd you can double the recipe. You can easily quadruple the recipe and make two 9×13 inch pans. Have a perfect Christmas and enjoy! (Recipe adapted from Christmas Morning Wife Saver on Jo Cooks).
Ingredients/Substitution Ideas
- Garlic Bread–or day-old French bread or Texas toast
- Canadian Bacon–or diced ham
- Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese–or Colby Jack, swiss
- Eggs
- Black Pepper
- Dry Mustard–or 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- Dried Chives–or sliced green onions
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Hot Sauce–or a pinch of cayenne
- Whole Milk–or half and half
Steps
Spray a 8×8 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. But the garlic bread into cubes and place it into the bottom of the pan. Lay the Canadian bacon evenly over the top. Sprinkle the cheddar on top.

In a bowl whisk together the eggs, pepper, mustard, chives, Worcestershire, hot sauce and milk. Pour it over the top.

Cover with foil and refrigerate for 8-24 hours. When ready to bake heat oven to 350° F. Bake for one hour, covered with foil. Remove foil and bake for 10 more minutes. Slice and serve.

Notes/Tips
- Serve with fresh fruit.
- I used my 8×8 inch baking dish*.
- Try slicing the Canadian bacon into halves before layering on the casserole so that it’s easier to get a perfect bite.
- This casserole is best when left overnight. You can bake it right away but try letting it set at least 20 minutes.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Pop a piece in the microwave or air fryer to rewarm.
