Description

Layers of garlic bread, Canadian bacon, sharp cheddar, and a savory egg custard are prepped the night before and refrigerated overnight. The next morning it is baked into a comforting breakfast casserole that makes Christmas morning completely stress-free.


Ingredients

  • 5 thick slices of garlic bread
  • 9 slices of Canadian bacon (about 6 oz)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp dried chives
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 cup whole milk (or half and half)

Instructions

  1. Spray a 8×8 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. But the garlic bread into cubes and place it into the bottom of the pan. Lay the Canadian bacon evenly over the top. Sprinkle the cheddar on top.
  2. In a bowl whisk together the eggs, pepper, mustard, chives, Worcestershire, hot sauce and milk. Pour it over the top.
  3. Cover with foil and refrigerate for 8-24 hours. 
  4. When ready to bake heat oven to 350° F. Bake for one hour, covered with foil. Remove foil and bake for 10 more minutes.
  5. Slice and serve. 

Notes

This recipe is easy to double in a 9×13 inch pan.
