Million Dollar Beef and Noodles

Don’t let the name fool you this is made with simple, affordable ingredients…but it tastes rich enough to earn the name. This is slurp slurp good and my family ate it until it was pretty much gone. It had great flavor and was quite easy to make. The jarred sauce gives good flavor with minimal ingredients. You can make it in either the Instant Pot or the slow cooker. Try it out this week!

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Lean ground beef–or ground turkey
  • Onion–or diced shallot
  • Kosher salt–or sea salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder–or 1 Tbsp minced fresh garlic
  • Italian seasoning
  • Beef broth–or chicken broth
  • Frozen Reames egg noodles–or Grandma’s brand of frozen egg noodles
  • Tomato basil pasta sauce–or your favorite marinara sauce. I used Mezzetta brand.
  • Cream cheese–or Neufchâtel cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese–or an Italian blend cheese
  • Parmesan cheese–or Romano cheese

Steps

Turn Instant Pot to sauté setting. When display says HOT add in the beef and break it up. Add in the onion. Brown for 5 minutes. Drain off excess grease. Stir in the salt, pepper, garlic powder and Italian seasoning.

Pour in the broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot.

Add in the egg noodles. Dump pasta sauce on top.

Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set manual/pressure cook button to 5 minutes. When time is up let pot sit for 10 minutes and then move valve to venting. Remove the lid.

Stir in the cream cheese until melted. Stir in the mozzarella and parmesan.

Ladle into bowls and enjoy!

Notes/Tips

  • Serve with garlic bread, cheesy breadsticks or crusty French bread.
  • Fresh basil sprinkled over the top adds great color and freshness.
  • Let the cream cheese soften before stirring it in so it melts more quickly.
  • I used my 6 quart Instant Pot*. You can also make this in an 8 quart pot.
  • If you use a slow cooker remember that all slow cookers cook differently. You may need to increase or decrease cooking time.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can freeze leftovers for up to 2 months. The noodles may soften slightly after thawing, but the flavor is still excellent.
  • Other recipes you can make with mozzarella cheese are Instant Pot Caprese Chicken and Attention Span Casserole.
