Slow Cooker Salisbury Meatballs

Slow Cooker Salisbury Meatballs

I loved this recipe because the slow cooker does all the work. The meatballs cook low and slow and can stay on the warm setting for up to two hours, which is perfect if people are eating at different times. The gravy thickens on its own (no cornstarch needed), the meatballs are perfectly seasoned, and that little bit of ketchup balances out the saltiness just right. This is an easy, throw-it-together dinner that everyone happily eats it. Try this one out this week!

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Water
  • Brown Gravy Packet–I used McCormick’s brand
  • Ketchup
  • Lean Ground Beef–or ground turkey
  • Panko–or bread crumbs
  • Egg
  • Ketchup
  • Yellow–or Brown Mustard
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Garlic Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Onion Powder

Steps

Add water, gravy packet and 1 Tbsp ketchup into slow cooker and whisk well.

In a mixing bowl add ground beef, panko, egg, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire, garlic salt, pepper and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined. Shape into golf ball–size balls and place them in the slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours.

Serve meatballs topped with the gravy.

Notes/Tips

  • Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans and corn.
  • I used my 4 quart Instant Pot* Rio on the slow cooker setting.
  • This recipe doubles easily for a larger group.
  • Want an oven option? Bake meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 400°F for 20 minutes (top rack), and prepare the gravy on the stovetop according to the packet directions.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  • Other recipes you can make with ketchup are Instant Pot Boarding House Meatloaf Bites and Instant Pot Huli Huli Chicken.
