Final Score:
Lemon-herb Roast 75 Cashew Chicken 92
Recipe 1 notes: I already had a pot roast and it was frozen. The day I was going to make it I had forgotten to let it thaw, so I delayed a day to let it thaw and make it easier to rub the spices into it. It was easy to put together and could be done before work. It had good flavor. My family could taste the pepper, but not the lemon. I could tell there was lemon. I make roast using the crock pot often, and I think I would combine some of the spices in this recipe with the onion and soup that I use in my other recipes. I did like using the red potatoes. The gravy makes the roast and potatoes seem a lot more gourmet. I had all the ingredients but red potatoes on hand.
Recipe 2 notes: I had never used boneless, skinless chicken thigh tenders before, and they were on sale when I went to buy them. I also needed to buy rice wine vinegar. I had run out and never replaced it. We had also eaten all our cashews. I had used fresh ginger in a recipe a few weeks ago and frozen what was left, so I just grated off what was needed. Expense wise this could be a more expensive recipe unless one plans ahead and stocks up on the ingredients this recipe uses. It was easy to prepare. My family really liked it and has already wanted me to make it again. I will make it again!
With the economy if people don’t stock up on ingredients and plan meals ahead, they will probably all be somewhat expensive when buying items that aren’t on sale. Planning ahead and stocking up will get better values for any prepared meals.
Well it’s clear to see that both of these recipes are winners. Sadly, only one will be able to go on to the sweet 16.
