Kitchen Tip Tuesday: Frozen Diced Onions

Onions are used a lot in slow cooker recipes.  When used right they give flavor and distinction to certain dishes.  Because I don’t really love cutting up onions I like to do it all at once and then freeze them.  Then when a recipe calls for a half cup of diced onions it’s easy to just grab them out of the freezer.
You can definitely buy frozen diced onions at the grocery store, but this method is money saving, for sure.  Just dice up a bunch of onions.  Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet that will fit in your freezer.  Spread out the onions on the parchment paper.  Freeze and then place in a large freezer ziploc bag.  This cuts down on prep time and makes cooking a cinch!

How do you keep the onions from smelling up the freezer? I triple ziplock bagged mine and they’re smelling up the freezer AND the fridge. Talk about potent 😆
