Kitchen Tip Tuesday: Freezing Celery

Like onions, if you have extra celery that you’re not going to use, you can freeze it.  I just diced mine up and stuck it in a freezer ziploc bag.  It comes in handy for the soup recipes…just measure out 1 cup and you’re ready to go.  I find this is a helpful tip for me since I buy the whole thing of celery and then the recipe calls for only one stalk.  You would only use the frozen celery in recipes that cook the celery…you wouldn’t eat it raw (too mushy and weird).

Wonderful tip! I really don't like celery & only buy it when I really should have it for a soup. I hate throwing out 90% of it later. Now it will last!!!

This is a great tip! I always hate letting the rest of the celery go to waste when I'm only needing it for 1 recipe. I like to make homemade broth in my crockpot after I've cooked a chicken & this frozen celery would be great to throw in there!
