Crock Pot Halloween Haystacks

These Crock Pot Halloween haystacks are such a fun and easy treat to make this time of year! The slow cooker gently melts the chocolate and peanut butter together and then all you have to do is stir in the crunchy noodles and scoop them out. These are the kind of treats that are dangerous to have sitting on the counter because I keep grabbing just one more!

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Crunchy peanut butter–or creamy peanut butter
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips–or half butterscotch chips and half chocolate chips
  • Shredded coconut
  • Chow mein noodles–the crispy kind that come in a bag or can, not the soft noodles.
  • Reese’s Pieces–or other Halloween candies you like

Steps

Add peanut butter, chocolate chips and coconut into slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low for 25 minutes, stir, cover and cook for 15 more minutes. Stir again until smooth.

Stir in the chow mein noodles.

Using two spoons, or an ice cream scoop, scoop dollops of the mixture onto parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Place 3-4 Reese’s Pieces onto each haystack. Let them sit until they harden. You can hurry up the process by refrigerating.

Notes/Tips

  • Press 3–4 Reese’s Pieces onto each haystack while the chocolate is still soft so the candies stick as the chocolate hardens. If you don’t have Reese’s you could also use Halloween sprinkles or candy corn.
  • Kids can help scoop the haystacks and decorate them with Reese’s Pieces. No oven required!
  • Store the haystacks in an airtight container* at cool room temperature for about 3–5 days or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Freeze for up to 3 months. Place parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking.
