Cheesy Noodle Bake

6 oz egg noodles, cooked and drained (I used what was in my panty, curly noodles)
8 oz lean ground beef, cooked and drained
4 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup cottage cheese
3 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
(or you can use one 26 oz can of spaghetti sauce and then omit the shirley J seasoning)
1 1/2 T Shirley J Pizza and Pasta Seasoning

Mix softened cream cheese, sour cream, and cottage cheese in one bowl. In another bowl mix the cooked ground beef and tomato sauce and shirley J seasoning. In a 3-quart slow cooker, place a little bit of the sauce on the bottom. Then layer noodles, cream cheese mixture, and meat sauce two times. Cover and cook on LOW for 3 hours. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve.

Review:
This is a little like a lasagna-type dish without all the work. I usually buy my spaghetti sauce and tomato sauce at case-lot sales. I’ve run out of spaghetti sauce but I still have plenty of tomato sauce. No worries, to make a yummy sauce all you have to do is add 1 tablespoon of the Shirley J pizza and pasta seasoning mix to a can of tomato sauce and voila you have a marinara. This was an easy dish and is a family favorite. 4 stars

Just have a question about the quantity of Shirley J Seasoning. The recipe calls for 1 1/2 tbsp. for 3-8 oz cans of tomato sauce but in your Review you say 1 tbsp. to 1 can. Which should it be? I want to have this option for the future because it's a great idea.

For the recipe it's just 1 1/2 Tbsp but if you want to just make a pizza sauce you'd use the 1 can to 1 Tbsp ratio

I wouldn't cook it much longer than 3 hours. One thing you could do is put this in a casserole dish and when you get home from work just bake it in oven for 20 minutes at 350 instead.

Hi Karen, I recently came across this recipe of yours (and I have prepared lots of them btw and thanks, they're always good) and wondered if it could cook longer than 3 hours. Have you tried that? I work all day and can't figure out how to make this work and yet it sounds so good.

So what do you do on all of these recipes if you can't get shirley j seasoning? I'm getting discouraged! We don't have it here….

Oops, sorry. I changed it. It is supposed to be 1/2 cup cottage cheese. I used low fat cottage cheese, sour cream and cream cheese and it worked great. Enjoy!

How much cottage cheese? Not in the ingredient list, but is in the directions.
