5 Instant Pot and Slow Cooker Beans and Rice Recipes

As I mentioned in this post, my husband and I paid off our house in the past year. We used Dave Ramsey’s method and will be going on his radio show today to share our story! I am so excited. And a little nervous. If you’re interested I will post the link to the YouTube video of it later today.

If you’re familiar with Dave Ramsey you know that he loves to eliminate debt and he is famous for telling people that they need to cut their budget and live off of “beans and rice and rice and beans!” Yes, beans and rice are very inexpensive but I actually really love beans and rice and so do my kids. They love going to Mexican restaurants and stirring the rice and the beans together and gulping them down. But really why go to a restaurant when you can make them at home for a fraction of the price?

5 Instant Pot and Slow Cooker Beans and Rice Recipes

Here are 5 Instant Pot and slow cooker beans and rice recipes to add to your repertoire. In addition you may be interested in this post “5 Dollar Instant Pot and Slow Cooker Dinners.”

Mexican Black Beans and Rice–the easiest and tastiest rice ever! Brown rice is cooked in flavorful salsa with garlic salt, a bay leaf and cumin. Canned black beans make this recipe very convenient. And my favorite part is a squeeze of lime juice and a dollop of sour cream on top. Make this as a meal or as a side dish.

Instant Pot/Slow Cooker Cajun Sausage and Beans–andouille sausage is served alongside a creamy pot of cajun-style beans that are cooked quickly in your pressure cooker or simmered all day in the slow cooker. You only need 3 ingredients to make this flavorful dinner.

Instant Pot/Slow Cooker Cajun Sausage and Beans

Southwest Shredded Chicken Bowls–a stew that is bursting with flavor but not too spicy. It has tender shredded chicken, pinto beans, fire roasted tomatoes, green chiles and taco seasoning. Serve this stew over rice or plain for an easy weeknight dinner.

Red Beans and Rice–dried small red beans are simmered with cajun sausage, onion, green pepper and cajun seasonings to make a saucy stew to serve over rice. And the rice can be cooked at the same time and in the same pot as the red beans!

Dave Ramsey Slow Cooker Beans and Rice Recipe–if you’re trying to cut down on your grocery bill I have a nourishing and inexpensive slow cooker beans recipe. We start with dried pinto beans (cheap!) and cook them all day while you’re at work (earning money to pay off your debts). Add in some salt, cumin, garlic powder and tomato sauce and you have dinner (or lunch)!

Praise the Lord, this is exciting. We have been debt free since 1982. Owed several thousand dollars. Always looking to the wrong source for help. When we finally put all our trust in the Lord and purpose to be free He helped us. For the first time we were able to pay cash for a new van. I am excited for u. Would love to meet u and your husband.

    Karen!

I have to tell you! My husband listens to Dave Ramsey. He came home yesterday all excited about your particular interview. He was very impressed! So impressed that I spent the next couple of hours reviewing the program trying to find your website! It took me awhile, but I did it!

First of all, congratulations! You did it and you did it in style. You have a beautiful website! And second, I was particularly impressed with your approach. Your husband said some things that literally are noteworthy. I’m going to go back and write a sheet to put my planner with his points. It is possible that God might have something for you along these lines. Besides facilitating, I think you have an approach that would inspire people. Not just with money buteverything. Thanks to both of you for making the trip to share with us.

Hi Dinah, thanks so much. We are very excited.
I’ve been blogging for 10 years so it hasn’t been a short journey. Only in the last couple of years has my income really shot up. The best resource I know of for starting a blog is probably Food Blogger Pro. https://www.foodbloggerpro.com/
