Snowman Soup

Snowman Soup

Snowman Soup is a whimsical homemade winter treat. It’s fun to assemble, makes a perfect DIY gift, and adds a festive touch to chilly days. Hot cocoa is always a hit and tastes perfect with some marshmallows. Use a candy cane to stir the hot cocoa for a peppermint twist. Another idea is to stir an Andes mint into your cup of hot cocoa. Spready cozy, seasonal joy with this fun treat. (Printable label included below).

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Powdered sugar–also called confectioners’ sugar
  • Dutch-processed cocoa powder–Dutch-processed cocoa powder is a type of cocoa that has been treated with an alkaline solution to neutralize its natural acidity. You can also use natural unsweetened cocoa.
  • Powdered milk–Powdered milk is evaporated milk with a longer shelf life when compared to liquid milk. It is also called milk powder or dry (dried) milk.
  • Cornstarch
  • Kosher salt
  • Vanilla powder* (optional)–it’s like a powdered form of vanilla extract. Vanilla powder is a finely ground, dry form of vanilla made from vanilla beans.

Steps

Add all ingredients into a bowl and whisk.

Pour the ingredients into a sifter and sift.

To gift: package the mix in jar and add instructions. Serving instructions: mix 1/4 cup with hot water. Top with marshmallows and stir with a candy cane.

Notes/Tips

  • The hot chocolate tastes great with marshmallows and stirred with a peppermint stick or candy cane.
  • I used a sifter* to make sure all ingredients were the same consistency. Cocoa powder tends to clump up so this was helpful.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in a cool, dry place. Lasts for 1 year.
