Nikki, how did the game go?

I thought the beef stew would be the hands down winner, but I wanted to give both recipes a fair chance. I was surprised with the results.

Beef Stew

Beef Stew notes:

I had to make a beef the evening before to have the โ€œextraโ€ meat for the stew. The Beef Stew took a little for time to prep for this recipe since I cut up the meat into bite size pieces along with the other veggies. I also made egg noodles along with it so my kids would have something else to put this on (they normally pick out all the potatoes). Once made, I served it and the kids dove in. They didnโ€™t finish their stew. I used fresh veggies and the flavor was bland. The potatoes didnโ€™t completely cook through, even after leaving this in the crockpot another 2 hours. I may throw them in the microwave for a few minutes if I make this again. Even my husband just had one bowl. Plenty of leftovers and clean up was a few dishes, but nothing to complain about.

Picante Sauce Chicken

Picante Sauce Chicken notes:

I was excited to try out my new taco shells pan with this recipe. My kids have recently started to eat taco salads (each putting on their choice of additional veggies like avocado, tomato, black beans, etc.) in my baked shells. I thought this would be a great, quick alternative to the beef taco meat, if it passed my kidsโ€™ test. The Picante Chicken was soooo easy. Take the breasts out of the freezer, plop in the crockpot. Mix up the picante sauce and dump in. After 2 hours the house was smelling pretty good and I couldnโ€™t wait. I shredded half a chicken breast per shell and served. It was huge hit with the kids asking for seconds. Even my 23 month old was asking for more chicken. Flavor was perfect, not too spicy for my kids and still had good flavor for the adults. My husband added more hot sauce on his to make it spicier for himself. My only complaint was that there wasnโ€™t any leftovers. Next time I will definitely double the recipe. Clean up was an ease. This was hands down the blow out winner!
