Lauren was at this buzzer-beater. Close game, Lauren. How did it go?
Cafe Rio Chicken |
For the Cafe Rio Chicken:
1. Prep time (did it take a long time, would you have time to make it before work) and easiness of ingredients (did you have a hard time finding the ingredients, and so on) 15 points
I think I’d go w/ a 13 here. I mean, it’s only 4 ingredients! I only had to buy the dressing, which of course wasn’t difficult to find.
2. Likeliness of making it again and did your family eat it? These go hand in hand are and important component. 20 points
Probably another 13. We ate it and enjoyed it, but I’m not so sure we’d do it again, at least not often. But – I’d be interested in keeping the salad dressing concept and trying various flavors!
3. Overall flavor which tasted better (regardless of cost, ingredients, etc) 50 points
40. It was really good (and I mixed the shredded chicken w/ couscous – oh, delish!) but I’m not a real “zesty” person so I would have preferred a regular Italian.
4. Value. Was it $9.00 a serving (low point value) or 0.90 a serving (high point value) 15 points
No idea what the serving cost is and I’m not doing the math, lol, but really, it’s FOUR ingredients. Everyone has garlic, and most people have cumin… I used chicken from my freezer, so the only thing I needed to buy was a $2 or $3 bottle of dressing. I’d give this a 14, but that’s ONLY because I’m not likely to use the rest of the bottle. ๐
Okay, for the Chicken Stroganoff:
1. Prep time (did it take a long time, would you have time to make it before work) and easiness of ingredients (did you have a hard time finding the ingredients, and so on) 15 points
10 – it was easy to do, but I also didn’t chop the chicken. I just put it in whole and shredded the thighs when it was finished. Also, I had forgotten about doing the sour cream w/ a half hour left, so that messed me up a bit.
2. Likeliness of making it again and did your family eat it? These go hand in hand are and important component. 20 points
15 – We all ate it and enjoyed it! It was a heavy meal, so I can’t see making it too often as the weather warms, but it’s a great winter comfort-food meal. I wouldn’t make it as is again (I’d probably try to lighten it up a bit) but I can see this being added to the crockpot rotation!
3. Overall flavor which tasted better (regardless of cost, ingredients, etc) 50 points

4. Value. Was it $9.00 a serving (low point value) or 0.90 a serving (high point value) 15 points
This cost me a little more than the other one did – I needed to buy the thighs, sauce, soup, mushrooms, and egg noodles – I really only had on hand the parsley and sour cream. That said, none of those ingredients are pricey, so I’d give this an 11.
