Oh my goodness this is the LAST review for the first round of the tournament.  That was 64 recipes!!!  Holy cow that was a lot of work.  Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with this first round.  The future rounds won’t have quite as many results!

Fresh Tomato Sauce

Tiffanee, our volunteer cook, said that “this sauce was flavorful and delicious.  It was easy to put together and I loved the fresh tomato pieces.  It was a hit with the whole family. Only issue it was a bit runny.  The Chunky Veggie Sauce recipe was easy to put together and I loved that it was packed with veggies. My neighbor boy came in the house and asked; “What’s that yummy smell?”  You could smell it throughout the house.  However it got mixed reviews with the family.  Hubby loved it but the rest of us not so much.  I found that the kids had just picked the pasta out of the sauce, but hubby is already wanting me to make it again.”

Hot Black Bean Dip

The Artichoke Dip blew past the Black Bean Dip.  What a blowout.  Deon tried these two and said,”The Hot Black Bean Dip turned out pretty meh.  It was a rather long process in that I had to presoak the beans overnight, then drain them, etc.  The resulting color was very off-putting, and the taste was rather bland.  We ended up eating the dip with medium salsa mixed into it.  I would not make this again because the taste was certainly not worth the trouble.”

Artichoke Dip

“The Hot Artichoke Dip was a hit!  Holy cats, the many different layers of flavors going on were superb, the creaminess of the cheeses made it a great complement with chips or crackers, and the sheer quantity made the effort worth it.  This recipe did have a lot of ingredients, so it was not the easiest thing to put together, however, the only real difficult part of the recipe was squeezing the spinach dry.  If I needed to take a fancy dip to a party, this would probably be a definite candidate!”

I agree with Deon.  That artichoke dip really is so delicious!  It’s up against the tomato sauce in the next round.
