Instant Pot Dad's Casserole

Instant Pot Dad’s Casserole

This casserole is scrumptious! I love the richness and the spark of flavor from the green onions. I took a spoon and had a bite of the creamy mixture with the sauce and was really surprised at how good the combo was. I think you’ll really love it too!

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Chicken broth–or water and Better than Bouillon chicken base
  • Egg noodles–or another type of pasta you like (you may have to adjust cooking time)
  • Chopped cooked chicken–I used rotisserie chicken from Costco
  • Cream cheese
  • Sour cream
  • Green onions
  • Tomato sauce
  • Sugar
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Shredded sharp cheddar–or another type of cheese you like

Steps

Add broth, egg noodles and chicken into Instant Pot. I used frozen cooked chicken.

Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 1 minute.

While pot is coming to pressure get out a medium bowl and stir together softened cream cheese, sour cream and green onions.

In a separate bowl stir together tomato sauce, sugar, salt, pepper and garlic powder.

When Instant Pot is done move valve to venting and remove the lid. Stir contents of pot.

Gently spread the cream cheese mixture over the top of the noodles.

Then spread the tomato sauce over the top.

Sprinkle the cheese on top.

Place air fryer lid on top. Bake at 350° F for 7 minutes.

Use a spoon to dig deep to get all the layers. Serve and enjoy!

Notes/Tips

  • Serve with a green salad and garlic bread.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer lid you can do steps 1-5 in an Instant Pot and then layer in a 9×13 inch pan and bake in the oven at 350° F for 15 minutes.
  • I used my Duo Crisp 6 quart Instant Pot*. You can also make this in a 3 or 8 quart pot.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  • Other recipes you can make with green onions are Instant Pot Sober Potato Salad and Instant Pot Or Slow Cooker Korean Beef Tacos.

Made this for the first time. Forgot about the recipe needing an air fryer lid that I don’t have. Had cooked the chicken and noodles as in the recipe. Put the rest of the ingredients into the IP on top of the noodles, then realized i should have put everything into the oven. I just mixed everything together and heated through on the saute setting. I thought the recipe was good/cheesy but my husband thinks it’s a bit bland. I think the recipe should be written with a break after step 5 and a note to stop there and explain if you have an air fryer lid do steps 6-9.If you don’t have an air fryer lid go to steps (next steps).
