6 lasagna noodles (I used whole wheat)
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
6 oz sausage, browned and drained
12 pepperoni slices
1 jar (26 oz) chunky spaghetti sauce (with mushrooms or green peppers)
2 tbsp water
8 oz cottage cheese
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
Break 2 noodles to fit in bottom of greased 3 quart slow cooker. Stir Italian seasoning into browned sausage and spread half of mixture over the noodles in slow cooker. Lay 6 pepperoni slices over sausage. Then layer a third of the spaghetti sauce, half of the water, half of the cottage cheese, and a third of the mozzarella cheese over meat. Add another layer of noodles, browned sausage, pepperoni, and a third of the spaghetti sauce. Spread remaining water and cottage cheese over sauce, then a third of the mozzarella. Layer remaining noodles, sauce, and mozzarella over top. Cover and cook on low heat 4-5 hours. Do not overcook.
Review:
This was a great one for the family. It actually kind of tasted like pizza. The kids loved it. The noodles did get a little too soggy. Next time I will leave out the water and not cook it quite as long. 3 1/2 stars.
