Description

Hamburger gravy with buttery toasted bread cubes baked together.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound 85/15 ground beef
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 5 slices white bread, cut into cubes
  • 2 Tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375° F. Heat a pan over medium high heat. Add in the ground beef and break it up. Stir in the salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Brown the beef for about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in 2 Tbsp of butter until melted. Then slowly whisk in the flour. Whisk for one minute.
  3. Slowly whisk in the milk for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens like gravy. Remove from the heat.
  4. Scrape the gravy into a square baking dish (8×8 or 9×9). Evenly add the bread cubes on top and then drizzle the bread with the melted butter.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately.
