Description

Savory sausage and mushroom gravy with cheddar cheese and chopped hard-boiled eggs spooned over English muffins or toast.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 4 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 hard boiled eggs, chopped
  • English muffins, biscuits or toast, for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan over medium high heat. Add in the sausage and break it up. Brown. Add in the mushrooms and cook until browned. 
  2. Turn heat down to medium. Make a space in the middle of the pan and add in the butter and let it melt. Slowly whisk in the flour. Slowly stir in the milk and little at a time. Stir until it thickens. Stir in the nutmeg, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, cheese and eggs. Once well combined and cheese is melted turn off the heat.
  3. Serve over toasted english muffins, biscuits or toast.
