Description

A true dump and go slow cooker or Instant Pot recipe! This ham and bean soup is warm, comforting and a perfect easy weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 (15.5 oz) cans great northern beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 rib of celery, diced
  • 2 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 18 oz ham steak with ham bone, cut into cubes

Instructions

Slow Cooker Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients into slow cooker (including the ham bone). 
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours.
  3. Discard bay leaf and ham bone (get any meat you can off of it first).
  4. Ladle into bowls and serve.

Instant Pot Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients into Instant Pot (including the ham bone). 
  2. Cover and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set soup button to 3 minutes. When time is up let pot sit for 10 minutes and then move valve to venting. Remove the lid.
  3. Discard bay leaf and ham bone (get any meat you can off of it first).
  4. Ladle into bowls and serve.
