Maritime Madness Meatloaf (Instant Pot or Crockpot)

Maritime Madness

Today’s recipe can be made in the Instant Pot or Crockpot. It’s a tasty meatloaf with sage, a bit of sour cream, oatmeal and chili sauce on top. All the ingredients go together really nicely even though it seems weird! This meatloaf got eaten up quickly at my house! If you want you can easily double this recipe. Although you may want to increase the cooking time if you do double the recipe in the Instant Pot (25 minutes for the Instant Pot).

Recipe adapted from Recipe Land.

Ingredients/Substitution Ideas

  • Lean ground beef–90/10
  • Dried onion
  • Parsley flakes
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper
  • Dried sage
  • Ketchup
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic powder
  • Sour cream
  • Oats–I used quick oats but I think old fashioned oats will also work well
  • Chili sauce–find this by the ketchup

Steps

Pour 1 ½ cups water into bottom of Instant Pot.

In a bowl add the beef, onion, parsley, salt, pepper, sage, ketchup, worcestershire, garlic powder and sour cream. Use clean hands to mix the mixture until combined.

Spray an oven safe dish that fits inside your Instant Pot with non-stick cooking spray.

Form the meat mixture into a loaf and place it into the pan. Place the pan on top of a sling and lower the sling into the Instant Pot.

Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 20 minutes. When time is up let pot sit for 10 minutes and then move valve to venting. Remove the lid.

Remove the pan and drain off excess liquid. Spread the chili sauce over the top of the meatloaf. Place the pan in the oven under the broiler for 2-3 minutes.

Slice, serve and enjoy!

Notes/Tips

  • Serve with mashed potatoes or baked potatoes and some roasted green beans.
  • I used my 6 quart Instant Pot*. You can also make this in a 3 or 8 quart pot.
  • I used my stainless steel pan* and my silicone sling*.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
  • To make this gluten free use gluten free Worcestershire sauce and gluten free oatmeal.
  • Other recipes you can make with chili sauce are Flying Jacob Casserole and Slow Cooker 3-Ingredient Meatballs.

I would say between 35-45 minutes at 350 degrees.

If you cook on high…..one hour is the equivalent to two hours on low……

so you could set this on LOW for 5-6 hours and it should turn out fine for you.
