Instant Pot Frugal Dude’s Supper

An easy recipe of smoked sausage, onions and peppers. This recipe will allow you to make an easy meal without breaking the bank!


  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 (13 oz) package beef or turkey smoked sausage, sliced into quarter inch rounds
  • 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 bell peppers, color or your choice
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce


  1. Turn Instant Pot to sauté setting. When displays says HOT add in the olive oil and swirl it around. Add in the sausage and lightly brown for 2 minutes. Then add in the onions and sauté for 2 more minutes.
  2. Pour in the broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot.
  3. Dump in the peppers, garlic, Worcestershire and garlic salt.
  4. Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 2 minutes. When time is up perform a quick release by moving the valve to venting. Remove the lid.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce. Sprinkle in more garlic salt to taste. 
  6. Scoop over toasted hero rolls or hot cooked rice. Serve and enjoy!
