Description

An easy Instant Pot dinner made with ground beef, sliced onions, seasoned rice, melted Parmesan and mozzarella and crispy French fried onions on top.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 Tbsp Better than Bouillon beef base
  • 1 1/3 cups converted rice
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 4 oz shredded parmesan
  • 4 oz shredded mozzarella
  • French fried onions, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Turn Instant Pot to sauté setting. When display says HOT add in the beef and break it up. Brown until no longer pink. Stir in the onions and cook for another 2 minutes. Drain excess grease, if needed. Then stir in the salt, garlic powder, onion powder and thyme.
  2. Pour in the Worcestershire and water and scrape the bottom of the pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot. Stir in the Better than Bouillon.
  3. Sprinkle in the rice and gently press to submerge. Add in the butter on top.
  4. Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set manual/pressure cook button to 5 minutes. When time is up let pot sit for 10 minutes and move valve to venting. Remove the lid.
  5. Stir in the parmesan and mozzarella.
  6. Scoop onto plates and top each serving with some French fried onions.
