Description

A creamy and comforting Instant Pot dish featuring tender potatoes, seasoned ground beef and gravy with a sprinkling of cheddar cheese on top.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch rounds
  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 ½ cups water into Instant Pot. Add potatoes into a steamer basket* and drop the basket into the pot. Cover and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 2 minutes. When time is up perform a quick release by moving the valve to venting and removing the lid. Move steamer basket out of the pot and discard the water.
  2. Turn Instant Pot to saute setting (“more”). When display says hot add in the beef and break it up. Add in the onion, salt and pepper. Cook until cooked through and onions are soft.
  3. Move the meat to the sides of the pot and add in the butter in the middle so it can melt. Sprinkle the flour in the pot and whisk. Slowly add in the milk, whisking as you go. It will thicken as you add it in. Once the sauce has thickened turn off the Instant Pot.
  4. Fold in the potatoes. Sprinkle the cheese on top and let it melt. Serve and enjoy!
