Description

Instant Pot penne pasta with Italian sausage, roasted garlic sauce and parmigiano reggiano cheese.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 tsp dry onion flakes
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 8 ounces penne pasta
  • 1 (25 oz) jar Mezzetta roasted garlic sauce
  • 1/2 cup ricotta or cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmigiano reggiano cheese

Instructions

  1. Turn Instant Pot to saute setting. When display says HOT add in the Italian sausage and break it up. Brown for about 5 minutes. Drain off excess grease.
  2. Stir in the onion flakes and garlic powder. 
  3. Pour in the broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot.
  4. Sprinkle in the pasta. Dump the pasta sauce over the top. 
  5. Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 4 minutes. When time is up let pot sit for 10 minutes and then move the valve to venting and remove the lid.
  6. Stir in the ricotta or cottage cheese and the parmigiano reggiano cheese.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
