Description
Chunks of browned beef, mushrooms and carrots in a savory sauce made in your Instant Pot or Crockpot.
Ingredients

- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/2 pound beef stew meat (or a chuck roast cut into cubes)
- 2 tsp Montreal steak seasoning, divided
- 1 cup water
- 1 Tbsp minced dried onion
- 4 carrots, peeled and cut into chunks
- 4 ounces quartered mushrooms
- 1 Tbsp Better than Bouillon Vegetable Base
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
Instructions
Instant Pot Instructions:
- Turn Instant Pot to saute setting. When display says HOT add in the oil and swirl it around. Add in the beef and brown on each side for about 4 minutes. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of the steak seasoning.
- Pour in the water and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off the Instant Pot.
- Add in the onion, carrots, mushrooms, the remaining 1 tsp of steak seasoning, Better than Bouillon and tomato paste.
- Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 15 minutes on high pressure. When time is up let pot sit for 15 minutes and then move valve to venting. Remove the lid.
- Stir. Serve a scoop over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or hot cooked rice. Enjoy!
Slow Cooker Instructions:
- Heat a pan over medium high heat. Add in the oil and swirl it around. Add in the beef and brown on each side for about 4 minutes. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of the steak seasoning. Transfer to the slow cooker.
- Stir in the water, onion, carrots, mushrooms, the remaining 1 tsp of steak seasoning, Better than Bouillon and tomato paste.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 hours.
- Stir. Serve a scoop over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or hot cooked rice. Enjoy!
