There are some great steals at the Dollar Tree! Here are 17 of the best Dollar Tree deals that you can find.

Best Dollar Tree Deals (video)
Today I’m going outside of the box of Instant Pot cooking and slow cooking a bit. I visited my local Dollar Tree the other day and noticed how many awesome items I use from that store. I decided to share them with you today! What items did I forget to include that you love buying from Dollar Tree?
Please subscribe to my YouTube channel!
#1. Cards–there are so many different types of cards at Dollar Tree. There are packages of blank notes and thank you notes as well as birthday cards, sympathy cards, anniversary cards etc. The dollar price tag is well under the price you pay at a normal grocery store (usually between $3-$5). I like to stock up on birthday cards so I have them at my house whenever I need one.

#2. Disposable (or not) platters–I keep a few of these clear plastic platters at my home at use them when I bring cookies or brownies to parties. Then if I accidentally leave the platter at the party it’s not big deal. I love using these platters for cookies because they are flat and long and can hold a big batch of cookies.

#3. Gift Bags–when you’re grabbing a birthday card at Dollar Tree stock up on gift bags too. There are small bags as well as larger bags. I love gift bags because I’m a super bad present wrapper. Pretty much you can’t tell if I wrapped the present or if my 11 year old son did.

#4. Streamers and balloons and birthday candles–if you’re looking for items for a birthday party you’ll find them at Dollar Tree. You can find birthday candles, streamers, and balloons and other birthday items too.

#5. Foam board–if you have a kid with a school project these foam poster boards will come in handy. I have also found a tri-fold poster foam board at Dollar Tree before. You can also find the thinner poster boards for 50 cents a piece.

#6. Toothbrushes–you can find name brand ADA approved toothbrushes at Dollar Tree. No reason not to switch out your toothbrush as often as the dentist recommends!

#7. Pregnancy tests–I found out I was pregnant with both of my kids through a dollar store pregnancy test. They work! And if you’re trying to get pregnant you can go through a lot of tests. These tests work and they don’t break the bank.

#8. Pain relievers–There are smaller bottles of ibuprofen and Tylenol at Dollar Tree. I throw these bottles in my travel bag, in my purse and car. You never know when a migraine will start coming on.

#9. Body wash–I buy bottles of men body wash for my son and husband at Dollar Tree. They use it as shampoo and as body wash.

#10. Hand soap refill–I have a hand soap dispenser in my kitchen and I refill it with this Dollar Tree soap.

#11. Measuring cups and spoons–perfect if you’re sending off a kid to college or if you just need to replace some of your old measuring cups.

#12. Kitchen utensils–there are so many great kitchen items at Dollar Tree. These are great to replace missing items in your kitchen or when setting up someone in a new apartment.

#13. Foil balloons–Dollar Tree has fun foil balloons for birthdays, graduations and other occasions. They will fill the balloons with helium too.

#14. Food storage containers--I send my husband to work with leftovers in these containers or if we have company for dinner I send the leftovers home with our guest in these containers. That way if it doesn’t make it back to my house it’s no big deal.

#15. Cleaners–I stock up on bathroom cleaners at Dollar Tree. That way each bathroom has their own set of cleaners and I don’t hear the excuse “I couldn’t find the toilet cleaner.”

#16. Foil disposable containers–There are all sorts of sizes of foil containers at Dollar Tree. The loaf pans are perfect when I make orange cranberry bread at Christmas for my neighbors. And the 9×13 inch pans are great for making freezer lasagna for my family or a neighbor.

#17. Sunglasses and reading glasses–I like to keep a pair of sunglasses in each car and in my purse. They get tossed around so I like to use dollar store glasses and I don’t worry if they get scratched or stepped on.

I love the Dollar Tree! My Mom worked at one before she retired. Even though the prices are now $1.25, there are still plenty of deals to be had. This season, they had a ton of beachy stuff (im a nautical freak) but my hubby banned me from that wall. Lol. They had a big bin of dvds & my hubby was ecstatic. I’m a crafter & some supplies are dirt cheap compared to Micheals or Hobby Lobby, even Walmart! Their spices are a really good deal too. I could go on for days! Let’s just say that if there was a Dollar Tree next to our home, we would have no choice but eat from there but I would have soooooo many projects going. Lol
Love dollar tree, great ideas Karen, thanks! I love their clear plastic chopping mats too, 2 per package for $1, 11 x 14. Great for chopping meats & veggies AND for crafts. I cut them up, punch holes & use them as clear cover protectors or dividers for my planner. Also love 2.5 qt plastic mixing bowls with handle & pour spout. Great in the kitchen, for cleaning supplies, yard, just anywhere. I have those things all over my house😂
Almost everything in dollar tree is now $1.25
Hi Karon…I am anxiously awaiting your new cookbook and am on the pre-reserve list. I’m wondering just how comprehensive it will be, compared to the number of recipes we’ve gotten through your daily emails. I have a whole notebook filled with IP recipes I have printed…would love to stop this constant use of paper & ink! I know it’s likely impossible to get all your recipes in one book, and you’re always looking for new ways to use your IP, so will hang on to my printed recipes until I see the contents of your book…can’t wait!!
Hi Connie, there will be 400 recipes in it. Most all my IP recipes from April 2017 until August 2020. So a lot of them!!! I hope you like it.
I’m always looking for new ways to prepare dinner & I’d love to try a new recipe for my crockpot.
You have the most organized dollar tree I have ever seen. I’m jealous
Haha that’s funny Lisa! It is a pretty well-kept store.
I adore Dollar Tree! I go there for all child birthday wrapping paper and all gift bags. And you cannot beat greeting cards for 50 cents!!! I like to just walk around in there and see what I can find. Cleaning supplies of every kind….I loaded up before quarantine. And it’s 2 minutes from my house!
Yep I always get my cleaning stuff there!
Dollar Tree is my go to place for getting cards especially as the family has grown over the years. Dog treats and toys are another basket filler for me.
You can’t beat $1 for a card. Unless they’re 2 for $1!
I call it the $30 store because I never get out of there under $30! They have the best pork rinds and an old time favorite Pepsodent toothpaste.
Yep I always spend between 25 and 30 bucks there too 😜
Back to school (or college) supplies
For sure!
I buy reader glasses there. I’m always laying them down and forgetting where they are, so now I keep a pair in every room….literally! Sure helps with the aggravation of searching!
Good idea!
When our son was little, we would reward him when he helped with chores around the house with quarters. Then, we could go to the Dollar store for an adventure. Such fun memories! Our son is 21 now, but the Dollar Store is still a place to save money.
That’s such a great idea. Very rewarding for him and you didn’t have to spend a lot of money either.
Being a crafter, the Dollar Tree is my “bestest” friend! I have taken those plastic platters that you show, hot glued them to a candle stick, and INSTANT CAKE STAND! Plain, plastic picture frames are SO easily decorated. And I buy a LOT of their florals to make wreathes and swags. I’ve ordered their hand towels in bulk to donate to my local animal shelter, where they are MOST welcome.
😊Great ideas
I love their parchment paper! It has made life so much easier – and the quality is just as good as the boxes for $4.00 or even $8.00 at the cookware specialty stores.
I always look at their food aisle. Right now I have jars of Morello cherries from Hungary – these are wonderful over ice cream! I bought numerous bags of the pink Himalayan salt. It is so expensive elsewhere and I like the flavor on foods like fresh tomatoes.
A lot of their body wash and soft soap products are made in Canada! I also buy Yardley’s English Lavender soap. I’ve loved it since I was a girl (I’m 67) and it still feels like a luxury to me. They have Pear’s soap as well.
I just used the last can of “salad tomatoes” – they came in a bright red can with a paper label. They were preseasoned with herbs and olive oil. I saved the red can – they have a tomato embossed on them and worked perfectly for a utensil holder that I thrifted. I haven’t seen them in a year or so but keep my eye’s out for them!
Finally – for the first time in years I actually have basil growing – and a lot of it. The 4/$1.00 seeds are a good way to try things out without paying extortionate prices and they are US seeds. I never bought the basil as I’d had such poor luck with seeds before but now I am sold on them.
We make arrangements for family that are in local cemeteries. Since the wind blows ALL the time expensive flowers just get as wind beaten as cheap ones. $tree also has the foam cones for arrangements – much less than the hobby stores. And we always get compliments on them from other family members. Doing this two times a year (Memorial Day and Christmas) could get expensive but this keeps this tradition feasible.
And finally – books! I love to read. I have found AMAZING gourmet cookbooks there – and since I read cookbooks like some people read novels they are an inexpensive ‘treat’. I’ve also found ‘name brand’ novels, biographies and mysteries there. In turn I donate them to our library used bookstore once they have been read.
Mary
Good tips! Thanks!
My husband and I are older but better seniors. When you get up in age you can’t think of gifts for each other, so we take $10 and purchase usable gifts for each other. We wrap each gift and put it under the tree. It makes you feel like Santa left you a bundle. Love Dollar Tree 🌲
Haha love it!
I’ve bought every one of the products (except the pregnancy test, I’m 73 y/o) at Dollar Tree. I love the greeting cards and like you keep a good supply on hand. One product I especially like is the Awesome for cleaning jobs. It works great and who can resist the price. Also buy batteries there, everything has a battery in it now, so it doesn’t hurt the pocketbook to stock up. Thanks Karen.
Awesome is awesome 👏
You’re welcome!
Thank you are this! We have two Dollar Generals within ten minutes of our VERY rural area, but I’ve not gone into the new Dollar Tree since they bought out the Family Dollar. Now I’ll give it a try.
It’s a good one!
And if you’re grandkids are the right age, you can be a hero for 5 bucks
Totally!
You mentioned the gift bags and what-not, but I like to buy wrapping paper, and tape there too.
We buy our sun glasses at the Dollar Tree all the time! I usually stock up, and buy 4 or 5 pair at the same time. I’ve gotten batteries there lots of times – and candy! They have SOME name brands, even. I’ve picked up cheep little toys for my grandkids lots of times. A young child doesn’t care how much a toy costs! Also, a big thing – this isn’t “a” specific object, but it’s a great place to go at Christmas time, to get stocking stuffers!
There’s just a host of things there that I like to get. I love to go look through the Dollar Tree!
Yes on the wrapping paper!
Some, even brand name, items sold at Dollar stores are not the same quality as those sold elsewhere. However. I read recently that dollar store spices, though not name brand, are equal quality to those sold in grocery stores and so much less expensive.
Good to know!
What a difference four months makes! No visits to Dollar Tree because of the pandemic. (This fun blog entry popped into my inbox today.)
I once used Dollar Tree products for a fundraising event and dinner held in an outdoor, covered seating area at a golf course. Dinner was buffet style and I bought ladles, tongs, platters, potholders, huge plastic bowls for chips and popcorn at every table – which were given to someone afterwards for snacks for a kids group she ran.
Making greeting cards is my hobby and occasionally are found like scratch paper or mini composition books to cover. They ship items now too! https://www.dollartree.com/
It’s been a crazy four months!
I’ve been getting seasonal and holiday Silk flower picks from there. I switch out the front door decorations with them.
Great idea!
There is a Dollar Tree being built about 3 minutes from my house right now! I am looking forward to shopping around.
That will get used a lot, I’m sure!
Good article. If the store has a freezer, ice is a good deal as is the frozen fruit. The orange cleaner and drain cleaner are as good as any. We use the cake containers a lot, like the stuff you mentioned, you can just leave it. Great deals and surprisingly helpful staff, generally.
Ours does have a freezer so I’ll have to check that out next time I go!
I like to buy cleaning supplies, greeting cards, gardening and craft items, pretzels, snack mixes, brush picks and kitchen supplies (got some cute placemats and dishes the other day).
They really do have cute dishes there!
I just want to say thank you for all you post and the recipes love them.
Thank you so much Patty!
Pink Himalayan Sea Salt 1lb. $1.00. Thin spaghetti 1lb 8oz. $1.00
Nice! I’ll look next time I go.
I i am on having a few friends including my daughter to learn how to use the zindtspot besides cooking hard boiled eggs. I am such a fan of your site. I am going to get them going with a quick demo of one of your great recipes. It will be such fun. Thanks for all you share Also thanks to your delightful daughter. She did a get a job
Thanks Carol!
I have purchased all of my everyday dishes, (plates and bowls) there. With kids, and myself breaking them on occasion it is much easier to replace.
Yep! Been there.
I’ve been filling my Samaritan’s Purse shoeboxes from church at Christmas time at Dollar Tree for several years now. Can fill the whole box with items they suggest, even a Bible! Can also find the EXTRA gift for the box as well. I love Dollar Tree and hope the child who receives the box does as well. Thanks for all these added suggestions.
I love this Kim!
Now is the time to stock up on planting supplies! My teenage daughter is just getting into it, and we found lots of different planters and seeds at dollar tree!
I did notice that last time I went! I am not a gardener but this would be a great resource if I were.
I get alot of my home office supplies at Dollar Tree. Envelopes, stapler, scissors, pens, hi-liters, clips, wite-out, folders, etc. Love it!
Yes totally!
I love the sugar free hard candies, cards, gift bags. Tissue paper at Christmas time. Being diabetic those hard candies sure are enjoyed every night. I have one and feel satisfied
Good tip Patsy!
I like the antibacterial wipes and reading glasses.
Oh yep forgot about the antibacterial wipes!
Dryer sheets, bleach, lemon ammonia, buckets, Jumex mango juice, last time got a couple of little bottles of Mucinex at a really big savings over the drug store!
Good ideas Cecile!
That mango juice is sooooo good, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
I check food items also. Several times I found canned mushrooms NOT from China or other Asian countries, also sometimes can get whole tomatoes in the can for half what the grocers sell for. We like the cinnamon mouth wash (must check label for place of origin as we are checking more labels these days). Thank you for your posts. We love several of your IP recipes. Yum, and easy, too.
Thanks Melanie!
You have me such good information! Going shopping today 👍
Have fun 🙂
I haven’t fond anything that I didn’t like about the $ Tree . At Christmas time they had these decorative Christmas boxes the put cookies in so you can give them away a d not worry about getting your container back. All there took & wax paper are get for a $1.00.
Yes they are a lifesaver around Christmastime!
Plastic butter dishes – only $1 They are strong and go thru the dishwasher just fine.
Cool idea!
Great post – thank you for this!
Thank you Brenda!
