After Church Casserole–sausage and spaghetti with cheddar. An easy Instant Pot recipe with only 5 ingredients!

After Church Casserole
This recipe is super simple and only has 5 ingredients but it tastes so good! It’s the perfect dish to whip up after church to feed your family. I love having Sunday as a day of rest and keeping things simple. But I also love having a Sunday dinner with my family. This fit the bill. I think you’ll really love it.
Ingredients/Substitution Ideas
- Ground sausage–I used Jimmy Dean sausage. You can also use Italian sausage.
- Chicken broth–or water and Better than Bouillon chicken base
- Spaghetti–regular or whole wheat
- Spaghetti sauce–we like Mezzetta brand
- Sharp cheddar cheese–shredded off the block
Steps
Turn Instant Pot to saute setting. When display says HOT add in the sausage and break it up. Brown for 5 minutes. Drain off excess grease. (I use a paper towel to sop up extra grease.)

Pour in the broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot.

Break the spaghetti in half. Lay it in a criss cross pattern into the pot.

Pour the sauce over the top of the spaghetti.

Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 4 minutes. When time is up let pot sit for 10 minutes and then move valve to venting. Remove the lid.

Stir in half of the cheese. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and let it melt.

Serve and enjoy!

Notes/Tips
- Serve with green salad. We love the Olive Garden Italian salad dressing. You can also serve alongside garlic knots or garlic bread.
- I used my 6 quart Instant Pot*. You can also make this in a 3 or 8 quart pot.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container* in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
- Other recipes you can make with sharp cheddar are broccoli cheddar soup and shells, cheese and vegetables.

Would gluten free spaghetti affect the cook time at all?
good question! I’m sorry I don’t have a ton of experience with gluten free pasta. If anything I would think to cook it less time.
