Things You Didn’t Know You Could Make in the Instant Pot
I love how creative people are! The internet has exposed me to so many cool ideas. Today I’m sharing ideas around the internet of unique (or maybe even weird) ways to use your Instant Pot. Maybe you will use these ideas or maybe not, but at least now you know you can use them if you want.
Idea #1: Homemade cough syrup and elderberry syrup
Girl and the Kitchen claims that her elderberry syrup is a super tasty immune boosting mixture that is perfect for those awful flu filled months!
Traditional Cooking School states that her Instant Pot Homemade Cough Syrup is great for stubborn coughs or coughs that accompany colds. The herbs and spices speed healing and bring relief more quickly.
Idea #2: Crusty Bread
Amazing crusty bread in just 5 hours. What’s the trick? The beloved yogurt button of course! It keeps your dough at a perfectly warm temperature for faster rising and it really, really works! Try this recipe from Tidbits.
Idea #3: Reheating Leftovers in the Instant Pot
It’s so easy to reheat leftovers in the Instant Pot pressure cooker! This is a great way to warm food easily, especially without a microwave! Get the method from Margin Making Mom here.
Idea #4: Making Healthy Dog Food
I personally don’t have a dog and my son reminds me of that every day and how picked on he is. But if I did I would consider making dog food at home in the Instant Pot. Here is one method from Tales from the Back Road.
Idea #5: Homemade Vanilla Extract
Prepare to be amazed as Marci from Tidbits shows us how we can make potent, delicious, colorful, flavorful and beautiful homemade vanilla extract, right in your pressure cooker!!!
Idea #6: Melting ChocolateÂ
If you want to make a batch of chocolate covered strawberries you can use your Instant Pot as a double boiler. Cooking with Karli shows us how here.
Idea #7: Hard Lotion Bar
Solid lotion doesn’t need a container and it stays solid even at room temperature. It’s especially helpful on dry elbows and knees. It looks like soap but it is really lotion! Your Beauty Blog shows us the method of making it in the Instant Pot.
Idea #8: Potpourri
Instant Pot Potpourri is a safe and natural alternative to bring in the season. There are so many variations and creative ways to simmer scents in our Instant Pots. Get the method from Home Pressure Cooking.
Idea #9: Boxed Foods
What do hamburger helper, Rice-A-Roni, mac and cheese, ramen noodles, a brownie mix and a box of stuffing all have in common? Many things, probably. But the one I’m focusing on today is that you can make all of them in the Instant Pot. Ridiculous? Yes, perhaps. LOL. But just in case you were wondering I’ve tested them all in the Instant Pot and am going to share with you what I found out.
So which of these things you didn’t know you could make in the Instant Pot will you actually end up using? I know I’m excited to try the melting chocolate method for pretzels! Plus that bread looks pretty amazing.
What Pressure Cooker Do You Use?
I use a 6 quart Instant Pot Duo 60 7 in 1*. I love this Instant Pot because it has the yogurt making function which I use almost weekly. It has two pressure settings (high and low), and there are also little slots in the handles so that you can rest the lid there instead of putting it down on your counter-top.

I’ve had my “pot” for a while. I’ve sampled sites and recipes, but I have found your most helpful. Issues of times, amounts, adapting recipes have been my stumbling blocks and you address these things. A big thank you! Sue, NE ohio

Go Bucks Sue!!! Thank you.
Great ideas! Sorry to see even your recipe blog has a problem with internet trolls. 🙂
Ha ha! That’s just how life is I guess these days.
how rude
I use my IP to make Iced Tea. I fill my 6 qt IP Duo to the fill line (1 gal) with water. I add 2 regular sized bags of Bigelow Cinnamon tea (remove the tags) and 2 regular sized bags of Twinings English Breakfast tea. Pressure cook high 4 min. Natural release 14 min (although I have forgotten about it up to an hour and it did not get bitter). Remove tea bags. Mix in 1/2 tsp pure leaf Stevia (don’t know how much sugar this would be). Everyone who has tried my tea loves it. It is actually surprisingly strong with only 4 little bags but smooth with just a hint of cinnamon.
Wow! I didn’t know you could do this!
You can be as perky, cute, resourceful and domestic as you want, but there’s something wrong with a person who will not open home and heart for a dog, especially when there’s a child who needs one. Pets impart great positive traits on children that no parent can make up for no matter the reason, which will never be good enough. Besides, they affect growns positively, too. Granny
A child does not NEED a dog/pet. There could be a multitude of reasons NOT to have a dog/pet that you are likely not aware of. The world needs more good not judgement like this. I hope you have a good day. 🙂 Bless your heart.
Then stop judging other people’s opinions about pets. Feel free not to get one but hoping others will love pets is not a bad thing.
I think it is important for kids to experience being around animals, dogs or otherwise. It teaches them to be careful around, appreciate, and connect with other living things. Infinitely better than an iPad. However, a recipe blog is not really the place to discuss or argue about the subject.
This is not the venue to espouse your views on things other than recipes. That being said from an avid dog lover, mind your business. You have no right to judge anyone. Shutup and cook something
Well said, get back to Instant Pot cooking!
