Description

A tasty slow cooker side dish for a holiday barbecue with bacon, ground beef, beans and barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 slices thick cut bacon, diced
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1 (15 oz) can light red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 oz) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan over medium high heat. Add in the diced bacon and cook until crispy. Move the bacon to a paper towel lined plate. Discard the grease.
  2. Add in the ground beef, onions, salt and chili powder and brown for 5 minutes. Transfer to the slow cooker.
  3. Stir in the mustard, kidney beans, pinto beans and barbecue sauce.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours. Stir in the bacon. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

My slow cooker has a stove top setting so I did steps 1 and 2 in the slow cooker instead of on the stove.
