Description

A cozy Instant Pot dish featuring Italian sausage, tender cabbage, and savory seasonings, perfect for a quick meal.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 medium head of cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch red pepper flakes
  • 4 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Mozzarella cheese or parmesan cheese
  • Cottage cheese or rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Turn Instant Pot to saute setting. When display say HOT add in the sausage and break it up. Add in the onion. Brown for 5 minutes. Drain off excess grease. 
  2. Pour in the broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot. 
  3. Add in the cabbage, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, tomato paste, Worcestershire, basil, oregano and pepper. 
  4. Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 4 minutes. When time is up move valve to venting and remove the lid. 
  5. Stir well. Taste test and season to taste (you may need a pinch of salt depending on your sausage).
  6. Scoop into bowls and serve with a side of cottage cheese or rice and sprinkle with mozzarella or parmesan cheese.
