Beth is our reporter at this game. It looks like the lime chicken didn’t play a good game tonight and had a lot of turnovers. What exactly happened, Beth?
Beef Stroganoff:
Very easy to prepare. I would have preferred fresh mushrooms to canned. In my crockpot I only cooked 6 hours on low. I used beef chuck stew meat. The only reason I rated it 15 out of 20 on โLikeliness of making it againโ is that I already have a delicious stroganoff recipe which includes Worcestershire sauce and catsup, and omits the cream cheese, that my family adores. This was very good, but the tasters liked my โoldโ recipe better. If you donโt have an easy stroganoff recipe then by all means, use this one. I will try to tweak the crockpot recipe to incorporate the old recipe elements.
Lime Chicken:
There were lots of steps for a crockpot dish. Not difficult, but time consuming. Directions were not clear regarding chicken tenders, e.g. leave whole? cut in chunks? cut in strips? I opted for cutting tenders in half crosswise and in half lengthwise, to mimic the shape of the pepper strips. I also cut the onion into lengthwise strips, so that all shapes were similar. The instructions for making a roux were particularly unclear. I was shocked at how bland this recipe turned out. The lime note all but disappeared, and I added the full amount. The strongest flavor note was the peppers. I also needed to add salt โ and I do not like salty food! Overall, I was very disappointed in this dish.
The beef stroganoff will be up against the cordon bleu in the next round…
