Tami was the lucky reporter to be at this soupy game. It looks like it was a close game.

Final Score:
Zuppa 91 Clam Chowder 66
Zuppa: I used 1/2 lb spicy italian sausage and 1/2 lb sweet italian sausage – which was just about right for our taste.
Husband wanted the potatoes sliced thin… so I quartered the potatoes lengthwise and sliced them thin.
I used sliced bacon in lieu of bacon bits (3 slices, cooked, drained, diced).
I did add the kale (I suppose it adds color and nutrition); however, my husband picked it out! So… I suppose it’s optional.
We loved the soup… ate it Saturday, Sunday, and I had some again Tuesday for lunch! (we’re empty nesters) We had a crusty roll with it… and it was so yummy!! Will definitely make this again!
Clam Chowder: As I looked over the recipe… it seemed a bit bland, so I added 1/4 t. thyme, 2 bay leaves, and 5 drops Tabasco to the first cooking phase. Perhaps I should have doubled these quantities??? (see notes below)
All turned out okay, but it was a little bland. We both like clam chowder… but I have other clam chowder recipes that we like better.
Will probably not make this one again.
