Description

An Instant Pot dinner with beef, rice, cabbage, seasonings and chow mein noodles on top.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp chinese five spice powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 1/3 cups converted rice
  • 3 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chow mein noodles

Instructions

  1. Turn Instant Pot to saute setting. When display says HOT add in the beef and break it up. Add in the onion. Brown for 5 minutes. 
  2. Pour in the water/broth and scrape bottom of pot so that nothing is sticking. Turn off Instant Pot. 
  3. Add in the soy sauce, pepper, salt, chinese five spice powder, garlic powder and ginger. Sprinkle in the rice and add cabbage on top.
  4. Cover Instant Pot and secure the lid. Make sure valve is set to sealing. Set the manual/pressure cook button to 5 minutes. When time is up let pot sit for 10 minutes. Move valve to venting. Remove the lid.
  5. Stir. Scoop onto plates and top each serving with 2 Tbsp of chow mein noodles.
